She uses the information well to begin planning activities that precisely meet children's individual needs. n The safety of children is given priority. Comprehensive risk assessments and thorough daily checks help to ensure the environment is clean, safe and well maintained. Children are well protected from harm while in the childminder's care. n The childminder is committed to providing good-quality learning and care for children and she constantly strives for improvement. This helps to develop children's social skills in preparation for the next stage of their learning. n Children behave very well. They play well together and learn to share their toys. Children respond positively to the consistent support they receive from the childminder and her assistant.

Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder and her assistant have completed child protection training, which has significantly increased their knowledge of how to protect children and keep them safe from harm. The childminder is confident about the procedure to follow if an allegation was made against herself or her assistant. The childminder provides her assistant with effective support, coaching and mentoring. They both attend regular training and this has supported them to improve their teaching skills and children's learning experiences. The childminder works well with her assistant to monitor children's progress. She uses the information about children's individual progress to identify gaps in children's learning and plan for their needs quickly. All children make good progress.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder and her assistant provide interesting and stimulating activities and resources according to children's interests. They regularly observe children as they play and use the information to plan for children's individual next steps in learning. Children play and learn in a stimulating and well-organised environment. They confidently operate different technological toys and enjoy the challenge of making them work. Children enjoy listening to stories with puppets and props which help to maintain their attention. Children are supported well to develop their communication and language skills. For example, as children play with play dough the childminder teaches them new words to describe what they are doing, such as 'pat' and 'squeeze'. This helps children to understand simple instructions, build vocabulary and link actions and words.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder and her assistant create very strong relationships with children. They provide a warm and welcoming environment and have a caring and sensitive approach. Children feel secure and thrive in the childminder's home. Children's health and hygiene are promoted well. For example, the childminder ensures that children follow good hygiene routines and they enjoy healthy and well-balanced food and drinks. Children enjoy being physically active indoors and outside. They eagerly take part in music and movement sessions and they confidently ride wheeled toys and climb on the large fixed climbing equipment in the garden. The childminder helps children to be safe when using the equipment. For example, she teaches children not to walk in front of swings when other children are having their turn.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their starting points. They are eager to learn and thrive on and enjoy the positive interactions they receive from the childminder and her assistant. Children enjoy the freedom to explore and they are learning to be independent. For example, they enjoy making choices in their play and confidently select the toys and equipment they want to play with. Children gain the necessary skills to support their future learning.
