Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has an excellent knowledge of child protection and is extremely vigilant in keeping children safe. She completes regular safeguarding training and is confident in her knowledge of the signs of abuse and knows how to report possible concerns. The childminder uses an effective system when monitoring the children's progress. This enables her to quickly spot any gaps in their learning and provide them with additional support if necessary. The childminder works closely with parents, involving them in their child's learning and development, and offering them a chance to share ideas and opinions. Parents speak highly of the setting and value the emotional support the childminder offers, as well as the countless learning opportunities she provides.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is an excellent communicator and offers the children many opportunities to develop their language skills, such as singing songs and asking the children for their opinions on what they would like to do next. The quality of her teaching is extremely strong and the childminder has an in-depth knowledge and understanding of how to promote learning and development in young children. The childminder is able to think on the spot and quickly adapt an activity to promote and extend the children's learning. For example, when one of the children started collecting pebbles in the garden, the childminder encouraged the child to start counting how many pebbles she had found. The childminder provides the children with a wide range of opportunities to learn about their local community. For example, she visits the local parks and attends many different group settings, such as children centres and music classes.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are incredibly happy, calm and secure. The childminder creates a welcoming and interesting environment and provides the children with many opportunities to explore and discover in their own ways. She is passionate about helping children to become independent learners. For example, when a child brought over a musical toy to be turned on, the childminder took the time and effort to demonstrate how it works, so that the child would be able to do it by herself next time.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are highly motivated and eager to join in activities. They make good progress from their starting points and they are developing the key skills that are needed for the next stage in their learning, such as starting school. The children are confident communicators and can follow instructions extremely well.
