further. They also comment about the extremely good progress their children make at the nursery.

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
Staff use high-quality observations, assessments and planning to identify children's progress and next steps very accurately. Activities are exciting and stimulating for the children. For example, children thoroughly enjoy developing their early mark-making skills as they sit with staff and draw. Staff ask probing questions to help children think, develop their ideas and recall their experiences. Staff are skilled in helping children to develop their communication and language skills further. For example, young children enthusiastically join in with storytelling and recall the story well even though they have not heard it often. The owner/manager and staff recognise that the new and younger children need more help in coping with routine changeovers.

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Excellent settling-in processes help children to settle very quickly and build extremely strong bonds with their key person. Staff are very caring, gentle and calm in their approach with the children. Children have excellent social skills. They are exceptionally well behaved and make friends very quickly. Children thoroughly enjoy the highly stimulating, exciting and interesting environment, indoors and outdoors. Resources are very well organised for all children to develop their learning independently as they play. Children enjoy being active and developing their physical skills, such as when they use balancing beams and stepping logs. Staff offer support for the less confident children, using exceptionally good encouragement to build children's confidence even further.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children are prepared exceptionally well for their next stages in learning and eventual move to school. Their confidence, independence and communication develop excellently alongside the well-targeted support from staff. Children are confident to express their ideas and choices as they play.
