caring environment that the childminder provides.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

The childminder completes regular observations and assessments of children's progress and activities. She uses this information to plan next steps and help them to make good progress in each area of learning. The childminder encourages children's communication skills well. She engages in meaningful conversations with them and introduces new words. This helps to promote their listening, understanding and speaking skills. Children explore a range of books to help encourage their interest in written words. Older children have many opportunities to develop their understanding of size, shape and number through everyday activities. The childminder teaches children about other people and places in the world around them. She takes children to local toddler groups where they socialise and get to know other children of similar ages which provides them with good opportunities to develop their social skills.

p.3
