The provision is good
n The childminder provides a warm, welcoming and well-resourced learning environment. Children are inquisitive and active explorers. They make independent choices in their play and display good levels of confidence and self-esteem. n The childminder gathers information about children's learning through good-quality observations. She uses these effectively to plan suitably challenging activities, which focus on children's individual next steps. Children make good progress across all areas of learning. n Effective partnerships with parents and other professionals support the childminder to meet children's individual needs. She shares information with others to support continuity in children's care and to promote shared learning. n The childminder uses a very good range of outings and activities to help raise children's awareness of their community and the wider world.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
n The childminder does not consistently make effective use of opportunities to extend her professional development, to help raise the quality of her teaching and children's learning to an even higher level. n Occasionally, the childminder does not use enough repetition and questioning techniques to extend younger children's developing communication and language to the highest levels.

Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a thorough understanding of local safeguarding procedures and the steps to take to protect children. She carries out regular risk assessments within the home and on outings. These help her to minimise risks and ensure that children are safe. The childminder reflects appropriately on the quality of her provision, taking into the account the views of parents and children. This helps her to make further improvements to support good outcomes for children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder encourages parents to share what they know about their children. She talks to parents on a daily basis and shares her observations with them. The childminder has a good understanding of how young children learn and develop. She plans a wide range of experiences that follow children's interests and promote their learning and development. She successfully supports younger children's physical skills and independence. For example, children learn how to climb ladders to get up to the tree house safely. The childminder provides younger children with creative and sensory experiences. For example, they explore the texture of paint and fill containers with pasta to make musical instruments.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder creates a warm and encouraging environment where children are welcomed and are keen to learn and play. For example, children have full access to many colourful and attractive toys and books in the childminder's home. The childminder helps children to settle quickly into positive routines that help them feel secure and confident. Children show good levels of concentration. For example, they enjoy making meaningful marks using paints, and focus well as they make shapes on paper, using a variety of brushes. The childminder helps children to develop a good awareness of how to live a healthy lifestyle. For example, children benefit from healthy snacks and learn to feed themselves independently. Children benefit from frequent opportunities to play outdoors in a variety of settings, including local parks and woodland.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children settle quickly and enjoy a good range of experiences. This helps them to develop a strong curiosity for learning. Children explore their surroundings with enjoyment and make choices about their play. They show increasing independence and confidence. For example, they select the colours they want for their painting. Children develop good skills in preparation for their next stage of learning.
