p.2
Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of safeguarding practice and is clear about the reporting procedures. She has also established and implements a range of comprehensive policies and procedures that underpins the safe and efficient management of her provision. For example, she conducts daily checks on her home to keep children safe. The childminder checks the progress of each child and helps individuals to catch up. She is confident to approach outside professionals and other providers to ensure that children receive the appropriate support they need. The childminder listens to the views of parents, children and others to maintain a good service.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder gains relevant information from parents on what their children know, can do and need to learn next. She uses such information, along with her ongoing observations, to motivate children to learn. The childminder introduces children to new activities and resources. Children confidently participate in the full range of activities and learn to handle resources with care. They use their creativity well, for example, to build their favourite models purposefully and share thoughts about what they have made. Young children love to explore resources and to find out how things work. The childminder holds discussions with children and acts on their suggestions to support their language development effectively. Children enjoy songs and learn new words.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder is an excellent role model for the children. For example, she skilfully explains to the children the importance of respecting the rules and code of conduct in her home and beyond. Children learn to share resources fairly, take turns and develop high levels of confidence and self-worth. Older children show consideration to the young ones and include them in play. Children have an excellent understanding of the importance of healthy lifestyles. For instance, mealtimes are sociable events, where children try new food and confidently talk about their favourite taste and texture. Young children also learn to use cutlery independently, to further aid their learning. Children go on outings, where they meet people from different cultures and enjoy the outdoor play.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress and any gaps in their learning are closing. Young children learn to socialise with others. Children become confident to express their ideas and feelings to others. Older children learn to recognise and order numerals. They use good mathematical language to describe shapes of objects in the environment around them. Children are aware of the changes that happen to the weather around them.
