and young people since the most recent full inspection
The home has been settled since the last inspection. One young person has left the home and another young person has moved in. The manager ensures that new young people receive good support and help. He also ensures that young people have access to the services that they need to help them settle and make progress. The manager responded well to recommendations made at the last inspection. He has established a very good-quality assurance system to monitor and review the progress of young people. The physical condition of the home has improved. Redecoration has improved the presentation of the home. Young people have made good progress in school and on training programmes. One young person is now attending school and doing well. She receives excellent support from staff. Another young person is working hard at college. She is on track to achieve good outcomes. Relationships between staff and young people remain very good. Young people receive

nurturing and compassionate care. One young person said, ‘I love the staff.’ This young person has made rapid and remarkable progress. She has also become safer since moving to the home. Her social worker said, ‘The young person has completely changed and made rapid improvement since the move to the home.’ Staff understand young people’s vulnerabilities and risks. The staff and manager work collaboratively with partner agencies to implement strategies to reduce risk to young people. For example, the manager and staff have worked well with the local authority to keep a young person safe. The staff have had to resort to using physical intervention on some occasions to prevent harm to young people and staff. Interventions have been carried out in line with procedures. These interventions were proportionate to the circumstances. Incidents have been recorded clearly. The manager reviews, in detail, all such incidents to make certain

that staff actions are appropriate. The registered manager is still relatively new to post, as he was registered with Ofsted in January 2018. He has quickly completed the relevant qualification. He is ambitious and committed to providing very good care to young people. He has recently recruited a deputy manager. The deputy manager is equally enthusiastic and committed to helping young people make progress and enjoy their lives. Inspection report children’s home: SC475335 3

Information about this inspection
Inspectors have looked closely at the experiences and progress of children and young people. Inspectors considered the quality of work and the differences made to the lives of children and young people. They watched how professional staff work with children and young people and each other and discussed the effectiveness of help and care provided. Wherever possible, they talked to children and young people and their families. In addition, the inspectors have tried to understand what the children’s home knows about how well it is performing, how well it is doing and what difference it is making for the children and young people whom it is trying to help, protect and look after.
