The childminder is extremely professional and passionate about improving outcomes for the children in her care. She continuously reflects on her practice and consistently gains feedback from children and parents to accurately identify any areas of development. She continually seeks further training to expand her knowledge and maintain her high standards. For example, she gains new and exciting ways to enhance children's experiences and exploration of the natural world. Safeguarding is effective. Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder is highly skilled in communicating with children. She models language in a manner that quickly broadens children's vocabulary. She focuses and expands upon children's interests skilfully and links cleverly to their experiences. She offers them highly relevant and practical opportunities to learn new words, concepts and develop an understanding of the world. For instance, children play with dolls and costumes from different nationalities and their favourite films. The childminder asks them targeted, probing questions that challenge children to think more deeply. They are encouraged to notice similarities and differences and compare colour combinations on dresses and different hair colours. During painting activities children explore mixing paint colours and name and discuss these confidently. However, the childminder does not continue this initial extension of children's creative experimentation, to challenge their artistic

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder places high importance on developing children's healthy lifestyles and physical development. They enjoy regular nature walks and investigate their local woodland. The childminder expertly threads ideas stemming from these trips into her activities, giving children excellent opportunities to revisit ideas and consolidate their learning. For example, she focuses on children's interest in birds. Children animatedly listen to a story about bird's songs and share their knowledge as they hoot like an owl. They decorate a bird house, eagerly filling this with food and talk about the different birds they have seen when out in the woodland.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children are consistently working above the typical levels for their age. They have excellent social and communication skills, including those children who are learning English as an additional language. Children gain a great understanding of learning together, using communication as a powerful tool. They ask questions to find out about things and use language to express their needs. They build strong friendships and begin to show thoughtful behaviour towards others. Children develop excellent skills that prepare them exceptionally well for their move to pre-school or school.
