p.1

The provision is outstanding

n The childminder has an uncompromising drive to provide high-quality opportunities for children. She has worked very hard since the last inspection to focus on children's individual needs. This has helped her to very successfully target gaps in her practice and children's progress, for example, mathematical learning outdoors. Children are highly focused and very inquisitive during their play. n The quality of teaching is superb. The childminder plans enthralling activities based on children's experiences and what they are learning. For example, young children learn to use electronic equipment with exceptional skill. They immerse themselves completely into role-play scenarios as they pretend to visit the beach. Children develop excellent confidence as they learn to express themselves. n The childminder very skilfully and expertly extends children's communication and language development. She has attended sign language training to help children

communicate very effectively with others they meet at community groups, for example. Children acquire excellent communication skills and a strong understanding about the differences between themselves and other people. n Children benefit exceptionally well from the excellent relationships the childminder forms with their parents and other professionals. She robustly monitors and addresses gaps in children's progress and learning. This has had an extremely strong impact on the progress children make in their communication and language skills. Children make rapid rates of progress from their starting points.

Inspection activities n The inspector had a tour of all areas of the premises children access. n The inspector reviewed the quality of teaching and learning during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. n The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. n The inspector talked to children and the childminder at convenient times during the inspection. She considered parents' views and reviewed the feedback letters and emails they left for her. n The inspector reviewed a range of documents, including monitoring and observations of children, policies and procedures, risk assessments, the childminder's qualifications, and the Disclosure and Barring Service checks for all people living and working in the household over 16 years of age.

p.2

Effectiveness of leadership and management is outstanding

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder and her assistant are extremely vigilant about child protection concerns. The childminder attends enhanced safeguarding training and implements highly effective policies and procedures to ensure children's welfare at all times. The childminder targets her professional development very well. She has attended advanced reading and writing training for example, that has enabled her to enhance children's progress in these aspects very well. The childminder expertly evaluates training and her practices to provide excellent coaching to her assistant. She recognises the benefits of continuing to hone her professional development even further on children's learning needs and next steps.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder interacts tremendously well with children and very effectively differentiates activities. For example, children gain excellent mathematical skills during water play as they use nursery rhymes to competently add and subtract plastic ducks. They receive excellent encouragement to recall the nursery rhyme using a storybook and predict what will happen next. They respond to the childminder's expert questioning skills very well. Children have excellent opportunities to develop their speech and language through highly targeted and planned activities. For example, they use straws and wands to blow bubbles and develop the muscles in and around their mouth to help with how they form letter sounds. They learn how to pronounce new words correctly, following the childminder's expert example and support.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children's behaviour is exemplary. They are incredibly kind and caring towards one another. They share, take turns and engage in other's play extremely well, building excellent relationships. The childminder models this exceptionally well through her highly considerate, fun and bubbly personality. The childminder expertly responds to children's great curiosity, for example, while reading books about the human body. Children are extremely intrigued and listen intently as the childminder explains the different systems and organs. They develop a very strong understanding of keeping fit and healthy. Children benefit greatly from regular exercise and fresh air in the wonderfully planned and extremely well resourced outdoor play areas. They take regular outings in the local community with the childminder, where they learn exceptionally well about the environment they live in. Children have immense fun creating healthy food menus and

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children make excellent rates of progress from their starting points. They demonstrate exceedingly high self-esteem and a very strong sense of themselves, as they confidently persevere with highly challenging tasks. Older children are extremely well prepared for their future learning and move to school, and learn to write their names and numbers up to 10. Younger children develop excellent mathematical and physical skills as they excitedly and very competently throw various shaped bean bags into large hoops. Children thoroughly enjoy singing and dancing along to nursery rhyme programmes.
