Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
The childminder reflects well on the service she provides and values the contribution the parents make. She has successfully addressed the previous recommendation raised at her last inspection. The childminder encourages parents to be actively involved in their child's learning. She provides ideas and suggestions for them to help to support their child's continued learning at home. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder knows the procedures she must follow should she have a concern about a child in her care. She has used various research techniques to broaden her knowledge with regard to protecting children from extreme views and ideas. The childminder has maintained all of her mandatory training, such as paediatric first aid to ensure children's welfare and safety is effectively promoted.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses her observations and skills to help to plan activities that she knows the children are interested in. She makes sure these are easily accessible to help children to develop their independence skills and select the toys of their choice. The childminder makes good use of her assessments and knows where she is taking children next in their development. Her interaction with the children is purposeful. For example, the childminder repeats words clearly to help develop children's speaking skills and use the correct pronunciation of words. Children show good levels of concentration and in particular when they play with small-world figures and toys. They share what they know and make sounds of cars and planes as they push and pull the toy vehicles on different surfaces. The childminder uses these opportunities to enhance children's mathematical development. Children quickly engage and confidently count the number of cars.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder takes children to other early years settings where children of a similar age also attend. This helps to enhance and support the children's social development and to share toys and take turns. The childminder praises children on their achievements and good behaviour. Their self-esteem and emotional well-being is supported effectively. Children develop their physical skills well. They particularly enjoy making marks on different surfaces to help develop their early writing skills. The childminder ensures children's health is promoted well. She teaches children good hygiene procedures, such as washing their hands before they eat to help prevent the spread of germs.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are curious and enjoy exploring the toys. They are active learners and well- motivated in their play. Children enjoy exploring with media and materials during creative play to enhance their sensory development. They show good physical control twisting and screwing toy nuts and bolts during imaginative play. Children make good progress from their individual starting points. They are developing the necessary skills needed for the next stage of their learning and for their eventual move on to school.
