Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder understands her role in keeping children safe. She knows the procedures to follow to act swiftly on concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder uses robust risk assessments to keep children safe in her home and when on outings in the community. She effectively monitors and assesses children's progress to help her meet their individual learning needs. The childminder is able to identify any gaps in their development quickly. She understands the need to keep her knowledge and understanding up to date. For example, she shares information, ideas and good practice with other childminders at monthly meetings, to develop her teaching skills.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is skilled in following and supporting children's own choices. She promotes children's expressive skills well. For instance, children thoroughly enjoy using their imaginations and play alongside others as they begin to develop and act out different narratives in their play. Children invite the childminder into their role play and she joins in with enthusiasm. Children have opportunities to learn about the world around them. They gain an understanding of caring for animals. For example, they help to feed and care for the childminder's chickens. They smile with delight as they feed the chickens their breakfast.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children enjoy exploring the stimulating and well-resourced environment. Children freely choose from easily accessible resources indoors and outdoors. Children benefit from regular opportunities to be physically active and learn the importance of washing their hands before meals. Children are given opportunities to develop their independence. For example, they confidently put on their shoes and help to sweep up sand using a dust pan and brush. The childminder makes effective use of outdoor learning. For instance, she takes children on local outings to places, such as parks and woodlands.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress. They are confident and demonstrate high levels of self- esteem. Children maintain concentration for long periods and persevere at tasks. Children demonstrate good hand-to-eye coordination and small-muscle skills. For instance, they confidently fill and empty containers when playing with sand. Children are developing the necessary skills for their future learning.
