The provision is good
n The childminder naturally interacts with children and extends their learning through play. She weaves what children need to learn next into a good mix of planned activities and child-initiated play. She makes regular and accurate observations of children's learning. Children make good progress in all areas. n The childminder is caring and nurturing with children. Children form good attachments with her and settle quickly. She gathers detailed information from parents on an ongoing basis, such as children's eating and sleeping preferences. This helps her to tailor children's care routines to support their well-being. n The childminder is a good role model. She helps children to develop good social skills and they know how to behave positively with one another. n The childminder works well with parents. She establishes good relationships with them from the start. She shares daily information with them about children's care and well-

being. This helps her to monitor children's progress closely.

It is not yet outstanding because:
n Occasionally, the childminder misses incidental opportunities during children's play to develop their understanding of number values. n At times, the childminder misses opportunities to support the children to complete daily tasks that they can do for themselves, such tidying up after play.

Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has comprehensive policies and procedures in place to help keep children safe and she consistently follows these. She knows what to do if she is concerned about a child's welfare, including those who may be at risk of being exposed to extremist views and behaviours. The childminder works closely with other professionals, such as other childminders, to address any areas for improvement. For example, she regularly discusses how best to provide quality learning experiences to help move children forward in their learning. The childminder monitors the progress of all children well and checks that her teaching is consistently effective and meets the needs of all children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a very good understanding of how children learn. She uses her knowledge of children's interests well to plan interesting activities that motivate children to learn and progress further. For example, children enjoy creating pictures, using corks to stamp and make marks in the paint. The childminder extends their learning further. For example, she actively encourages children to use large paintbrushes to mix several colours together and identify the colours in their pictures. This helps to promote children's speaking and listening skills and physical development.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children settle quickly in their play. Their behaviour is good. Children respond well to praise and encouragement offered by the childminder. The childminder shows respect to the children. Good hygiene practices are observed and children develop an understanding of routine activities, such as washing their hands before eating meals and after toileting. Children have many opportunities to learn about the wider world. They regularly visit parks, play centres and local places of interest.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress. They learn a good range of skills that prepares them for their future learning, including school. Young children build their physical skills well, such as when they attempt puzzles. They successfully keep their attention and interest in activities. Babies and young children effectively develop their communication and language skills. For instance, toddlers respond well to instructions and babies use basic words and make their own sounds.
