When new children or young people come to live at the home, essential plans are not always in place to help staff to care for them consistently. Delays in receiving essential plans lead to confusion for the children, young people and staff around care expectations.
p.4
How well children and young people are helped and protected: good
The children’s and young people’s behaviour improves, and they start to learn how to regulate their own emotions. The children and young people are motivated by new behaviour reward systems. The staff work with the children and young people to help them identify danger and the staff help the children and young people to learn ways to keep themselves safe. The children and young people rarely go missing from home. The staff are familiar with missing from home procedures and they feel confident to act if a child or young person does go missing.
p.4
The effectiveness of leaders and managers: good
The registered manager is new to the post and is motivated to make continuous improvements to the care that the children and young people receive. The registered manager is ambitious for the children and young people. She monitors the children’s and young people’s progress to make sure that they continue to achieve. The staff team feels well supported by the manager. The staff receive regular supervision as well as on-the-spot supervision, which helps them to feel confident about their work. The staff team undertakes regular training which is bespoke to the children’s and young people’s very individual needs. Not all staff are within timescales to complete one mandatory training course. This does not fully meet a requirement set at the last inspection. The registered manager works closely with other professionals, such as therapists, reviewing officers, teachers and social workers to make sure that the children and young
