Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder keeps up to date with practice and attends training. This has consolidated her positive approach to behaviour management and enhanced her knowledge of data and child protection procedures. The childminder understands her responsibility to report concerns to protect children's safety and well- being. The childminder evaluates and reviews her practice well, and successfully monitors children's individual progress. She purchases literature and resources to help strengthen the quality of her teaching and planning. The childminder closely supervises her assistant and keeps them informed of changes to her procedures. Parents are kept updated about children's progress, to consistently promote good outcomes for their learning and well-being.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder engages children and supports their learning well. For example, children recognise patterns and colours, as they place beads in a board. The childminder provides access to a good range of activities and resources. Children concentrate well and develop strong, fine-muscle skills in preparation for early writing. The childminder extends children's learning effectively and introduces mathematical concepts through enjoyable games. For example, children enthusiastically match, recognise numbers and learn how to add these together. The childminder is attentive. She listens and sits with the children at their level, and they eagerly engage in discussion. For instance, children enjoy sharing their recent experiences of travelling on a boat.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children move confidently in a safe, secure environment and learn about potential dangers well. For example, they engage in road safety and fire evacuation procedures. Children show good independence with their self-care skills. They competently use the toilet and wash their hands, and access their water cup when thirsty. Children participate in a good range of activities to promote a healthy lifestyle. For instance, they walk from nursery and develop strong physical skills and coordination playing on the equipment in the park and in the garden.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children learn key skills that prepare them for their next stage in learning and the move to school. They are happy, confident and sociable. They use language well to communicate their needs and make choices in their play. For example, they join in games, show confidence with numbers and use their imagination well to construct a model from their recent experiences.
