Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
The childminder demonstrates great dedication and enthusiasm for her role. She has stringent procedures to help keep children safe at home and when visiting the local community. In addition, she knows how to identify and report concerns about children's welfare to the appropriate agencies. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder values strong partnerships with parents, who comment positively about the service she offers and how settled their children are in her care. Established partnerships with other professionals and providers help to extend the childminder's practice well. The childminder monitors the progress of all children well and checks that her teaching is consistently effective and meets the needs of all children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder teaches the children well. She understands how they learn through play and enables young children to follow their own interests. Learning is enjoyable and children are excited to join in with activities led by the childminder and those they choose for themselves. They proudly complete jigsaws independently. Young children are inquisitive and keen to explore. The childminder is skilled at supporting children's mathematical development. She constantly interacts with them and provides clues to help them think critically. Toddlers begin to understand early mathematics. They recognise different numbers and learn simple addition and subtraction, for example, as they play board games.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder is an excellent role model and provides extremely clear guidance to the children about her expectations. She consistently praises and encourages them. She is extremely caring and responsive to children's individual needs. Children show that they have very good self-esteem and form exceptionally secure attachments with the childminder. They are wonderfully happy and settled in her care. The childminder promotes children's good health extremely well.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children gain good skills to help them with their future learning, including the move to school. Toddlers are creative and learn to use their imagination successfully. For instance, they confidently share their ideas, such as pointing out 'salmon' and 'carrots' when pretending to prepare meals with a special moulding foam. Children concentrate well and develop positive attitudes to learning. They are exceptionally emotionally secure.
