Effectiveness of leadership and management is good
The providers, manager and staff attend safeguarding training. They demonstrate a confident understanding of how to attend to concerns about children's welfare. Staff undergo thorough checks that help to ensure their suitability to work with children. Children's safety is given a high priority. Staff supervise children well during their activities and outings into the local community. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The providers and manager monitor staff performance and offer them ongoing guidance and support. The providers encourage staff to increase their qualifications, and they provide appropriate opportunities for ongoing training. Parents speak positively about the club. They comment favourably about their children's experiences and the efficient way the club operates.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Staff plan a broad programme of experiences that reflects children's individual preferences. They talk to the children about what they would like to do. For example, the manager has developed an 'ideas tree' for children to contribute to activity ideas for the next school holiday. Children enjoy their time in this friendly club. They have plenty of age-appropriate resources from which to choose. Staff encourage children's individual creativity. For example, children spend long periods creating artwork and colouring in their favourite pictures. They show pride in the end results, and staff celebrate their individual achievements. Older children sit quietly and read books. Children develop their concentration and fine motor skills as they use small, multi-coloured beads to create different objects. They play card games and guess whether the next card is higher or lower than the last card. They talk about numbers, and older children practise their

times tables. The staff collect observations of children and assess their enjoyment levels to help them plan for the next holiday period. The manager and staff are further developing their current links with feeder schools, to promote an even more effective and shared approach to children's care and learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children quickly establish good relationships with staff. They readily involve staff in their games and go to them for comfort or advice. Staff try to bring children together throughout the day to participate in group activities. This helps children to get to know each other and develop their friendships. Older children help and support younger children, and relationships are good. Children learn to keep themselves safe. They understand the importance of following rules. For instance, children are encouraged to use scissors safely as they decorate pine cones they have collected on their woodland walk. Staff show interest in what children have to say. For example, they share their stories of their recent family holiday to the seaside.
