This provision is good
The childminder knows children very well and meets their individual needs with vigour. She provides a well-resourced environment, which allows children to take ownership of their play. The childminder supports children well with transitions. She has built firm relationships with them and they are well settled. Parents are complimentary about the childminder, praising her nurturing approach and influence on their children's well-being. The childminder carries out regular observations of children's learning and tracks their progress well. Gaps in learning are quickly identified and acted on, to support children's ongoing development. The childminder supports children's understanding of positive behaviour from a young age. They learn to share and take turns in their play.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Although relationships with parents are positive, the childminder does not fully engage them in shared learning experiences to support their children's development. Self-evaluation does not fully include areas for raising the quality of outcomes for children or include parents' and children's views.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact on children's learning. The inspector had a tour of the premises and viewed the areas used for childminding. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection and took into account the written views of parents. The inspector viewed a range of documentation used by the childminder, including children's learning journeys and policies, and checked evidence of suitability for all adults living in the home.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of how to protect children from abuse and neglect. She understands what to do should she have a concern about a child's welfare and a clear allegations management procedure. The childminder has kept her knowledge up to date and is clear about local procedures for safeguarding. Children are further protected by the childminder by thorough and regular risk assessments of the environment. The childminder has addressed points raised at her last inspection and has maintained a well-balanced provision. The childminder considers children's transition to school and supports their development and well-being to ensure they are equipped to embrace the move emotionally and physically.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides good-quality learning experiences for children. Linking activities to children's interests ensure they are engaged and have an enjoyable time. Children learn early language skills at every opportunity. The childminder repeats noises and sounds made by young children and babies, which encourages interaction. She uses simple repetitive words to encourage language acquisition further. Children enjoy imaginative play, taking items in and out of cupboards in the play kitchen. The childminder has successfully identified schemas and creates opportunities for children to continue their learning through their interests. Holistic treasure baskets help support babies' natural curiosity. The childminder supports this explorative play and offers descriptive words and phrases. Children play with magnetic shapes, sticking them to areas around the home and stacking them together. The childminder supports their early mathematics and discusses
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are secure in their environment and enjoy being in the company of the childminder. They share a very positive relationship and delight in playing games together, such as hide and seek. They gleefully crawl around the toy kitchen and surprise each other with funny faces. Children begin to learn about healthcare routines. They are taught to wash their hands prior to eating and when they have been to the bathroom. The childminder has a large enclosed garden, which has an array of areas to help support children's physical and imaginative play.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children display confidence and a growing independence in their play. They freely explore and investigate their surroundings and engage in the activities they choose. Children begin to learn the essential skills needed for future learning and the next stage in their journey, including the eventual move to school.
