between the setting, home and other settings they attend.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not provide enough consistent opportunities for young children to develop excellent skills in speaking. The childminder does not focus as sharply as possible on further developing her teaching practice. There is scope to extend professional development to help build confidence and increase the potential to promote children's learning at the highest level.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed teaching practice and conducted a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector viewed the areas used for childminding and held discussions with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant records, documents and policies. The inspector checked evidence of the suitability and qualifications of the childminder. The inspector interacted with children and sought the views of parents from the written evidence provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder effectively implements a range of records and documents that supports her to promote children's well-being. She routinely risk assesses her home, indoors and outside. This helps her to ensure the premises are suitable for use. The childminder has a strong knowledge of how to identify and deal with child protection issues. This helps to keep children safe and protect them from different types of harm. The childminder conducts research, networks with other providers and accesses some training. This has a particularly positive impact on the quality of care she provides. The childminder is ambitious and reflective. She sets herself clear targets for development, which helps her to achieve good standards.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Overall, the childminder is a good teacher. She promotes children's learning through a balance of child-led and adult-initiated play. For example, the childminder provides children with sensory experiences. She encourages them to explore materials, such as play dough. She models how they can use a range of techniques and tools to manipulate the dough. This helps to foster their fine motor skills. Children take an interest in technology toys. The childminder extends this by providing them with additional resources to explore, such as a remote control, a torch, a pretend laptop and a bubble machine. This helps to develop their understanding of the world. The childminder oversees children's progress. She identifies any children requiring extra support and ensures they benefit from the targeted help they need. All children progress well from where they started.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder successfully promotes children's physical and emotional well-being. For example, she promotes healthy eating, good hygiene and exercise. Children really enjoy outdoor play. They keenly practise their physical skills by climbing on low-level equipment and kicking balls. The childminder's home is welcoming and inclusive. The childminder teaches children about a variety of family backgrounds, cultures and ethnicities. The childminder has simple rules and clear behaviour boundaries. She encourages children to be respectful and polite. Children display positive behaviours in the setting. For example, they happily interact with others and invite them into their exploration and play.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children cooperate with the daily routines and show an interest in helping with small tasks. Children develop strong social skills. They are keen to spend time with others. They learn to share resources and begin to take turns. Children are independent. For example, they make choices about what their want to play with or eat. Children develop some good communication skills. They listen to the childminder and respond to direction. They also really enjoy singing familiar rhymes and songs. Children are curious and inquisitive. Therefore, overall, children develop the key skills they need for the next stage of their learning and ultimately the eventual move on to school.
