This provision is good
The childminder has made good improvements since her last inspection. She is committed to updating her professional knowledge and practice. She shares her good practice skills with other childminders and supports those interested in becoming a childminder via her local authority training sessions. The childminder makes regular observations and assessments of children's learning and monitors their progress well. The information gained is used well to inform her to support children in moving on to the next stage of their development. Children are prepared well for school, as the childminder uses effective teaching methods. Children's language development and mathematical development are promoted particularly well. Partnerships with parents are strong. The childminder regularly shares information with parents in a variety of ways about children's individual learning and development. The childminder and her assistants are good role models. The childminder helps

children to develop a good understanding of behaviour expectations and develop respect of others.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Occasionally, adult-led or focus activities do not meet the learning needs of the youngest children. At times, the childminder does not consider ways to build on children's developing social skills, particularly during daily routines, such as mealtimes.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder's teaching skills, and the interaction between the childminder, her assistants and the children during activities. The inspector spoke to the childminder, her assistants and the children when appropriate. The inspector and the childminder jointly observed children while they played and discussed how the childminder supports their learning. The inspector looked at a sample of relevant documentation, such as required records for children, self-evaluation evidence, and the policies and procedures shared with parents. The inspector took account of parental feedback.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has an appropriate knowledge of the signs and symptoms that would cause her concern about a child's welfare and how to take appropriate action. She follows guidance on safe recruitment procedures when employing assistants, to further safeguard children. She explores regular professional development opportunities to help her in reflecting on her practice. For example, she makes good use of her local authority network group. There is a good range of systems implemented to support assistants to develop their skills and knowledge further, such as completing safeguarding training. Since the last inspection, the childminder has taken steps to extend children's learning about their personal care. Parental feedback reflects satisfaction with the quality of care and teaching experiences offered to children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder makes regular assessments of children's abilities. She undertakes observations on children's learning well to generally plan challenging activities that keep them stimulated. She develops children's communication skills effectively. For example, she supports children to extend their vocabulary as she uses a range of mathematical descriptive language in play. Children make good progress in being independent and in making choices in their play. Children can locate toys of their choice, such as those organised within easy reach and labelled well in storage. Children enjoy physical and creative play. For example, they build long train tracks across the floor, explore using a range of musical instruments, or use large sweeping actions as they paint. Children demonstrate sustained attention and play for long periods, using their own ideas and with a purpose.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder and her assistants supervise children well and minimise possible risks to children. Children feel safe and secure and demonstrate self-motivation. The childminder meets the care needs of children well. She gathers information from parents to help children settle easily into her care. The childminder guides parents on supporting a healthy diet for their children, such as when providing packed lunches. Children have daily opportunities for fresh air, exercise and to build on their existing social skills, such as visits to local groups and library.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress in their learning and development from the time they start. The childminder supports children to learn about expected behaviour and become independent. Children's early writing skills and early mathematics are developing well. For example, children enjoy free painting and learn to count. Children enjoy looking at the good range of books on offer, both on their own and with the childminder.
