This provision is outstanding
The childminder is highly qualified, experienced and extremely knowledgeable about how to help children learn and how to support them to make the best progress they can. Her gentle, encouraging and enthusiastic involvement with children is inspirational. Since registration, the childminder has developed a highly effective reflective approach to her work and continually challenges herself through further training. This uncompromising drive for improvement has a significantly positive impact on the children in her care. Children thoroughly enjoy the childminder's highly positive and enthusiastic involvement in their play. Young toddlers become excited when she provides them with different aspects to their activities. For example, they show delight when she turns the outside tap on for them during a water play activity to extend their interest. She has detailed procedures in place to manage any child protection concerns and she has completed refresher training in different aspects of safeguarding. The childminder has a deep understanding of how children learn and she is highly effective is recognising each child's preferred activities, using her skills to bring in different areas of learning to widen their experiences. The childminder is confident to monitor and support children's progress. She correctly identifies how she can continue to promote their curiosity to think deeply and solve problems they encounter themselves.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder is inspirational in her teaching. She is highly responsive to children's interests. She encourages their curiosity to explore. Those who show a strong interest in items that spin become excited to use a range of resources, such as water wheels, windmills and fidget spinners. The childminder is highly skilled in incorporating these into a wide range of activities. Young toddlers are encouraged to be vocal and they listen intently to the childminder as she uses descriptive words when talking to them during their play and the daily routines. Children benefit from the childminder's considerable creativity when she is planning activities to widen their experiences. For example, children's physical skills are supported as they squeeze slices of citrus fruit in a tray of water and they enjoy the scent and aroma of the juice. Children's progress is very clear through the childminder's accurate and sharply focused observations and assessments.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children benefit from the childminder's exceptional environment, where they have access to an abundance of play materials and activities. This results in them being highly motivated and well behaved. Children clearly demonstrate a very strong attachment to the childminder. They look to her for reassurance and she is highly sensitive to their needs, recognising when they are tired or hungry. This attachment contributes to children's emotional well-being being extremely well supported. The childminder enables very young children to begin to develop an understanding of healthy lifestyles through healthy food and drinks. Her high standards for hygiene minimise the risk of cross-infection. Children thoroughly enjoy playing outside, developing their physical skills.
