It is not yet outstanding because:

 The childminder is not as highly successful at supporting children to create with a purpose.  The childminder's plans for her professional development are not robust enough to help raise the quality of her practice to an outstanding level.

He looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of those living in the household.  The inspector spoke to parents during the inspection, viewed their written feedback and took account of their views.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good

The childminder's self-evaluation is good. She provides opportunities for parents to give feedback on her service. The childminder considers the views of children in her daily planning of activities and routines. She identifies plans for continual development, such as further supporting children to make a smooth move on to the next stage in their learning. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder takes children on outings, including for walks along the local canal. She considers potential hazards of the trip and teaches children safety rules to help them understand the dangers of water. The childminder is knowledgeable about safeguarding procedures. She knows how to identify abuse and extreme behaviours, and how to report concerns about a child's welfare. Her home and garden are safe and secure.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

The childminder effectively helps children to learn about the customs of different celebrations, such as birthdays. For example, she provides cakes for children to eat for their birthday and safely lights a candle for children to blow out while others sing 'happy birthday'. The childminder carefully considers children's current interests in her planning of activities. For example, she provides activities that extend children's interest of the football world cup. The childminder helps children to develop independence skills, such as tidying away resources when they have finished playing with them. Children learn how to overcome challenges. For instance, the childminder helps children who have difficulty using scissors. She demonstrates to them how to hold the scissors correctly to snip paper.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

Children are well engaged in their play and enjoy the games and activities the childminder provides. They show great delight in playing ball games outside with other children. This helps children to be active and keep healthy. Children have good relationships with each other and cooperatively agree rules for group games. Their behaviour is good. The childminder implements rules for children to follow. She talks to children about what foods are healthy and unhealthy. This helps them to develop a good understanding of how to eat a balanced and nutritious diet. The childminder demonstrates to children how to use technology equipment safely to research information. For example, she uses the internet to gather information about American presidents, to support children's interests further.
