This provision is good
The childminder has a wealth of experience and reflects on how she can improve her service further. She ensures that her professional knowledge is kept up to date so that she can support all children in her care effectively. Children are independent and focused with the childminder. The childminder's use of positive praise supports children's desire to try hard when they take part in activities. The childminder uses her knowledge to accurately assess children's progress and identify relevant next steps for them in their learning. All children make the typical levels of progress with the childminder. They develop at an age-appropriate rate and are well equipped to move on to the next stage of their learning.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not offer enough opportunities for children to explore different cultures and backgrounds. The childminder does not consistently share information with parents about children's current learning so that they can continue to support this at home.

Inspection activities
The inspector considered the suitability of the childminder's home indoors and outdoors. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at suitable points throughout the inspection. The inspector observed the quality of the childminder's teaching and considered the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector looked at a range of documents, including policies, qualification certificates and children's learning journals. The inspector considered evidence of the suitability of the childminder and other household members.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder has a strong understanding of how to keep children safe. She knows who to report concerns to regarding children's welfare and places a strong focus on this. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a range of policies to support her practice. She talks to other professionals when children are starting at a new setting. For instance, she shares vital information with them about children's progress and well-being. The childminder gathers information about children's interests and abilities from parents when they initially join her. This information supports her to accurately identify the children's starting points for their learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder interacts well with the children and keeps them focused and interested as they learn. She asks them a range of questions to encourage them to think further about the activities they are participating in. She gives clear instructions for children to follow, which supports their learning. The childminder provides a range of resources and activities for children based on their individual interests and stages of development. For example, she provides dolls and a toy potty for children who are currently toilet training. The childminder skilfully supports younger children to develop their early language skills, including those who speak English as an additional language.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is very calm with the children in her care. She pays close attention to the importance of hygiene. For example, children have individual towels for wiping their hands to reduce the risk of illnesses spreading. Children's behaviour is good. Children practise their sharing and turn-taking skills. For instance, they play with other children at regular meetings with other childminders. The childminder takes the children on outings daily, such as to the library for singing time. She ensures that she seeks permission from parents to give medication and to treat the children if they need medical assistance. She keeps them well informed about their child's welfare.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop a wide range of skills during their time with the childminder. They strengthen their muscles through play. They develop their large-muscle skills when they play in the garden. For instance, they move the ride-on car backwards and forwards using their feet. Children remain focused as they draw pictures. This helps develop their small muscles. They enjoy choosing stories from the selection of books on offer. Children build towers and other structures using the wooden blocks. This helps them to develop their imaginations. They practise their counting skills. For example, they confidently repeat numbers back to the childminder when they place small objects into bowls.
