This provision is good
The childminder has worked hard to make improvements since her last inspection. She has worked closely with the local authority adviser to develop her good-quality provision. The childminder carefully observes children's play. She monitors children's progress and plans exciting activities to support next steps in learning. The childminder is a positive role model. She is polite and demonstrates how to use good manners. Children learn how to be respectful and manage their emotions effectively. Children behave well.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Information gathered from parents when children first start attending is not extensive enough to include children's abilities and promote targeted teaching immediately. The childminder has not yet embedded a focused programme of professional development to extend her knowledge and further enhance the quality of teaching.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector had a tour of the premises and spoke to children during the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure understanding of how to identify and report any concerns about the welfare of children in her care. Risk assessments and close supervision help the childminder to protect the safety of children in her home and on outings. Children learn how to cross the road safely and when not to run too far ahead of the childminder. The childminder uses regular discussions to help her find out about parents' views and opinions of her service. These, along with her own self-assessments, help her to make decisions about future improvements. For example, she has improved how she records children's learning to show the progress that they make.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder reflects on what she knows about children's achievements in their learning and development to identify what they need to learn next. The childminder is proactive in supporting younger children's language and communication skills well. For example, she responds to their babbling and provides a continuous dialogue during play. This encourages children to become confident, skilful communicators. Children are motivated and interested in learning. For example, they take delight in playing in water and throwing and catching a ball with the childminder. They learn that they have to press a button to make electronic toys make a sound. Children's early mathematical skills develop, such as building towers with blocks. Overall, the childminder successfully engages parents in her practice. There are regular verbal exchanges of information about their children's progress. Children benefit greatly from this shared approach to their care
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder's home is safe and welcoming. Children make choices in their play and older children independently choose from the easily accessible resources. They develop strong, affectionate bonds with the childminder, who is kind and responsive to their needs. The childminder provides a range of healthy food that meets children's individual dietary requirements and helps them to develop healthy lifestyles. Children have lots of opportunities to develop their physical skills. For example, very young children have plenty of space indoors and learn to confidently move around. They enjoy playing in the back garden and learn how to operate push-along toys, such as small bicycles.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning. They are happy, motivated and inquisitive learners. Children develop strength in their arms and hands as they play. They learn to control large and small movements using a variety of containers to tip and pour water outside. The youngest children are confident to communicate their needs with the childminder. Children display a positive attitude to their learning and develop the skills they need for the future, including starting school.
