This provision is good
Children develop a good understanding of diversity beyond their immediate family. For example, the environment has positive cultural images, books and role-play resources for the children to explore. The childminder effectively supports children's early communication and language skills. For example, she emphasises key words to help children enhance their understanding and speaking skills. Partnerships with parents are good. Parents value the bonds the childminder has with their children. They work together to provide consistent and good-quality care and early education for children. All children make good progress in their learning and development form their starting points. The childminder effectively evaluates the provision and includes the views of parents and children to help identify areas for further improvement. For example, she has enhanced opportunities for children to explore and challenge their physical skills.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Partnerships with other providers that children attend are not yet fully embedded to support consistency in children's learning even further. On occasions, the childminder does not make the most of opportunities for children to extend on their creativity during activities.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children during their play and learning experiences. The inspector observed children and the childminder interacting, and discussed children's learning and development. The inspector held discussions with the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at children's records and evidence of the suitability of the childminder. The inspector reviewed written feedback from parents of the children attending the setting.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder is successful in monitoring children's progress. She identifies any gaps or areas where children require extra support, or challenge. The childminder ensures that the planning for children's learning includes activities to help them achieve the best they can. For instance, the childminder engages children in letter recognition games to provide further challenge to their literacy skills. The childminder keeps her knowledge up to date. For example, she attends training to help improve her practice. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder identifies potential risks in the environment. She minimises these risks while still helping the children to gain a good awareness of how to play in safety. She has a good understanding of the child protection procedures to follow and is fully aware of how to report any issues.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a good knowledge of how children learn and develop. She uses meaningful observations to plan activities based on the children's interests. For instance, children enjoy exploring toy animals and engage in conversations about the different characteristics of each animal. Generally, the childminder effectively challenges and enhances children's knowledge and skills throughout their experiences. For example, she encourages children to consider the different noises the animals make and gives clear explanations about the different real-life size of the animals. The childminder develops children's mathematical understanding effectively. She makes regular assessments of children's play and achievements and shares these with their parents.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder maintains a well-organised, welcome and stimulating environment, in which children are happy, settled and keen to explore. Children are well behaved, and the childminder encourages children to use excellent manners. The childminder gives children plenty of praise and encouragement and helps to boost their self-esteem and confidence. The childminder makes the most of opportunities to enhance children's independence skills. For instance, children enjoy being actively involved in tidying away following activities. They have a good understanding of how to independently follow hygiene routines, such as hand washing.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children learn a good range of skills that prepare them well for their next stage of education and their move on to school. For example, they enjoy practising skills that help develop their early handwriting skills. They use a range of tools to make marks throughout their play and exploration. Children enjoy activities that help them to coordinate their movements and enhance their pencil grip, such as peeling off small stickers within their chosen craft activities. Children enjoy outings to local parks and the library and gain a good sense of community.
