This provision is good
The childminder uses effective methods to reflect on and evaluate the service that she is providing. For instance, she seeks feedback from parents and uses information that she gathers through working with other local professionals to develop her practice. Children are happy and settled. They develop good, secure relationships with the childminder and her family. The childminder uses successful methods to assess and monitor children's progress. She uses the information well to identify gaps in learning and to plan activities that offer children appropriate levels of challenge. All children make good progress. The childminder supports children to gain a good understanding of how to behave well. For example, she acts as a good role model and helps them to learn to be kind and share the resources. The childminder provides a welcoming and stimulating environment for children. Children have access to a wide range of resources. They can make their own choices

It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder does not recognise and make the best use of opportunities to extend children's interest in exploring the marks that they make. The childminder does not fully use her partnerships with parents to involve them consistently in supporting their children's learning at home.

The childminder fully understands the procedures that she should follow to report concerns that she may have about a child's welfare. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder recognises the importance of keeping her skills and knowledge up to date and relevant. She follows good procedures to support her professional development. For instance, she attends courses and works with other professionals to develop her skills. The childminder reflects positively on how training on supporting children's toilet training has helped her to be more confident at offering parents support and advice. Parents are happy with the care that their children receive. They say that the childminder keeps them well informed about their children's routines.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is enthusiastic and friendly. She interacts well with children and supports their communication skills. For example, she uses children's interests to encourage them to share their ideas, developing their use of language. The childminder works well with other professionals to share information and support children's learning. For example, she shares her assessments with the other settings that children attend, to support children's individual learning needs. Children develop a good awareness of mathematics. For example, they use measuring jugs to learn about quantities and they share out fruit equally, dividing it between each other.
p.3

Children gain a good understanding of how to keep themselves safe. For example, they learn that they must wear their hats and drink water when it is sunny. The childminder promotes healthy lifestyles and supports children to be healthy. She provides healthy meals and encourages them to have daily fresh air and exercise. Children develop good social skills. They take part in groups and activities in the community, and develop secure friendships with the other children who attend the setting. p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children gain the skills that support them with the next stage in their learning and the eventual move on to school. For instance, they are keen and motivated to learn. The older children develop a love of stories. They spend time focused as they tell themselves stories using their pictures to guide them. Younger children develop their physical skills well.
