Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of how to identify, record and report safeguarding concerns. The childminder invests time building positive relationships with parents. She shares regular updates about children's progress and provides helpful ideas to help parents continue their children's learning at home. Parents praise the childminder for the, 'Brilliant service she provides'. The childminder completes simple and effective systems to track children's progress. Tracking is well embedded, regularly updated and illustrates children's steady progress in their development. Continued monitoring helps the childminder to know children well. She implements targeted teaching and narrows gaps in children's learning quickly.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder ensures activities are closely linked to children's interests. Activities enthuse children and inspire their curiosity. For instance, children bubble with excitement as they discuss caring for caterpillars and butterflies. Children learn about the natural world around them and develop independence through small responsibilities. The childminder provides activities with sufficient challenge to help engage children and extend their learning. For example, children enjoy pouring water over wheels. They anticipate with excitement when the wheel will turn. Children enjoy learning how things work and predict what will happen next, contributing to their good critical-thinking skills. The programme of activities is stimulating. This contributes to children's good progress.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children learn the importance of making healthy choices at mealtimes and the impact this has on their bodies. For example, children comment, 'We drink water because it is good for our teeth'. Children spend plenty of time outdoors. Rigorous physical activity contributes to children's good health. For example, children run and climb when they visit parks and recreational areas within the local community. Children are well cared for by a nurturing, attentive and gentle childminder. Children's care needs are quickly met. For example, the childminder immediately provides warm, reassuring cuddles. These help to build children's confidence and contribute to their good level of emotional security. Children of different ages play well together. Older children help younger members of the group. Children develop good social skills and friendships.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are inquisitive and eager to learn. They ask regular questions to satisfy their thirst for knowledge. Children are confident communicators. Babies develop early communication skills as they babble and use gestures to assert their needs. Older children demonstrate a wide vocabulary and converse with ease. Children enjoy being creative. They expand their ideas and develop their coordination and physical skills through exploration. Children make good progress from their starting points and prepare well for the next stage in their development and the eventual move to school.
