This provision is good
The childminder and her co-childminder provide a calm and nurturing learning environment. Children settle readily, play together in harmony and enjoy their learning. The childminder offers praise and reassurance to children as they learn new skills. Children are increasingly confident and independent in their play. They develop a very strong sense of belonging. The childminder is sensitive to the needs of each child. Children make good progress from their starting points. They are well prepared for the next stages of their learning and development, including starting school. The childminder works well in partnership with parents. For example, she keeps parents well informed about their children's learning and care routines, and offers them guidance to help them support their children in the provision and beyond. Parents are very pleased with the good progress their children make and appreciate the

superb care they receive from the childminder and her co-childminder. The childminder reflects on her practice and shares expertise with her co-childminder to ensure that together they meet children's care and learning needs effectively.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always extend activities to fully challenge children's mathematical skills and ability to solve problems independently.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

offer a suitable level of challenge to extend children's mathematical skills and to solve problems unaided.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder, her co-childminder and children playing indoors and outdoors. The inspector sampled the childminder's policies and procedures, and children's development records. The inspector discussed the childminder's procedures to safeguard children, and her process for reflecting on her practice. She also spoke to her co-childminder at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents and children.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of safeguarding procedures and knows how to protect children in her care. For example, she works very well with her co-childminder to ensure that the premises and resources are safe for children to use. The childminder attends extra courses to strengthen her skills. This is evident in the way she closely checks the progress of each child. When she identifies any issues, she provides well-targeted support to help children achieve well. The childminder works well with other providers and outside professionals to ensure good continuity and progression in children's learning. She acts on the views of her co-childminder, parents and others to maintain a good service.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder gains relevant information from parents about what their children know and can do. The childminder and her co-childminder use such information to plan for children's next steps in learning. The childminder explains activities well to children and shows them how to handle resources with care. Children are well motivated to learn and relate very well to each other. They use their imagination well. For example, children use different construction tools and learn to build their favourite models. They explore pop-up toys and find out how things work. The childminder reads stories with children. Children keenly talk about their favourite pictures and learn new vocabularies. The childminder holds discussions with children and acts on their suggestions to support their language development effectively.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder and her co-childminder are excellent roles models for children. For example, the childminder talks to children in a respectful manner and supports their social and emotional well-being very effectively. Children learn to share resources fairly and take turns. Children's behaviour is excellent. The childminder helps children adopt superb healthy attitudes. For example, children develop excellent knowledge about the importance of personal hygiene and understand that fruit helps them grow and develop. Children love eating snacks with their friends and taste new fruit and flavours. They learn to use cutlery during meals and serve themselves. Children ride role-play cars and develop very good awareness of others around them.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress and any gaps in learning are closing. Children listen attentively and respond well to instructions. They learn to make marks and name colours. Children are aware of the changes that happen to the weather. For example, they know that wearing hats and applying sun cream will protect their skin from the sun.
