This provision is good

 The childminder knows children well. She supports their individual needs and learns about their interests from conversations with parents and observing children at play. Children are happy and content in her care.  The childminder makes regular observations of children as they play and learn. She successfully tracks their progress, identifies next steps in learning and supports any emerging gaps in development.  The childminder forms positive relationships with parents and other early years providers. They share information about children's learning which supports their ongoing progress.  Children behave well given their young age. They learn about being kind, taking turns and caring for others. They are supported by a kind, caring and considerate childminder who is a good role model.

p.1

It is not yet outstanding because:

 The childminder has not yet focused her professional development to raise the quality of teaching even further to have a positive impact on children's learning.  Although the childminder has addressed points raised at her last inspection she has not reflected on her provision, or included the views of parents, children and other early years professionals, to further enhance her service.

p.1

What the setting needs to do to improve further

To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2

What the setting needs to do to improve further

 focus and undertake professional development to enhance the quality of teaching to an even higher level  extend self-evaluation to include the views of parents, children and other early years professionals to identify areas for development to raise the overall quality of the setting.

p.2

Inspection activities

 The inspector observed activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact on teaching.  The inspector viewed areas of the home used for childminding purposes.  The inspector viewed a range of documentation used by the childminder, including policies, children's records and evidence of suitability of all adults living in the home.  The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of how to keep children safe from harm and the signs, symptoms and indicators of abuse. She is aware of the procedures to follow should she have concerns about a child's welfare and shares these details with parents. The childminder has a clear allegations management procedure. Children's safety is further protected by risk assessments being completed for the various areas of the home and outings undertaken. The childminder has successfully addressed developmental points identified at the last inspection.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

Children develop good early communication skills. They are given focused activities by the childminder to enhance their vocabulary. For example, they read stories together and she asks clear and thought-provoking questions. This also enhances their love of books and early literature. Creative development is at the heart of early mathematics. Moving vehicles around in coloured paint supports children's learning of colour, texture and shape as they make swirls and track marks. Regular monitoring of children's development means the childminder has a good understanding of their progress and next stages of development. She also ensures their areas of interest are incorporated into activities to retain attention.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

The childminder supports children's social development as they visit a variety of toddler groups in the local community. They develop friendships with other children and learn about the diversity of the world they live in. Children enjoy being with their peers and develop close relationships with each other. They are supportive, kind and considerate, and are developing an understanding of how to share. The childminder is a positive role model. She is calm and understanding. This supports children's emotional well-being. Children have access to a well-resourced outdoor area. The childminder has created a beach theme for children to learn in. They use their imaginative skills while playing in the beach hut. Children learn about caring for living things. The childminder has numerous pets that children help to care for. This supports their knowledge of the wider world.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

Children are confident and happy. They enjoy the environment and freely access resources and toys. They communicate their needs well and develop the necessary skills for the next stage in their learning and eventual move on to school. Children display a natural inquisitive nature and enjoy investigating their surroundings and activities. They ask questions and show a thirst for learning and play.
