p.1

The provision does not meet requirements

 The childminder has insufficient knowledge of child protection. She is unaware of the possible signs and symptoms of abuse, and the action to take if she has any concerns about a child in her care. Furthermore, the childminder does not understand the procedures to follow if an allegation is made against herself or a family member.  The childminder has limited knowledge of the learning and development requirements. She does not assess children’s progress or use observation to plan activities that build on what children know and can do. The childminder does not understand how to complete the required progress check for two-year-olds.  Children’s safety and well-being are compromised due to ineffective risk assessments. Although the childminder is able to identify potential risks to children, such as unsafe equipment, she does not take prompt action to minimise these hazards.  The childminder has addressed the action raised at her previous inspection by updating

her first-aid certificate. However, she does not keep an accurate record of injuries sustained by children, which provides misleading information to parents.  The childminder demonstrates a suitable awareness of promoting children’s physical development. She helps children engage in physical activity by taking them on regular trips to the park. The childminder also provides healthy snacks and seeks information from parents about children’s dietary needs.  The childminder’s self-evaluation is weak. She has not identified her failure to meet all of the requirements, which has resulted in a significant decline in the quality of provision.

p.1

The provision does not meet requirements

There were no children present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
