This provision is good
The qualified childminder forms strong relationships with parents and seeks their views on the quality of her service. She reflects on her provision to identify where she can improve learning experiences for children. For example, she has introduced picture labels on storage boxes to help young children make choices about their play. The childminder supports children's language and communication skills well. For example, where children are still developing their speaking skills, she repeats words back to them using the correct pronunciation and grammar. Parents speak positively about the care provided by the childminder. They comment that she provides a welcoming, safe and caring environment where their children feel happy and secure. Children are confident learners. They make choices from the available resources and express their own ideas and preferences. For example, children request that the

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder has not fully developed relationships with some of the other settings that children attend to exchange information about children's learning and development. The childminder's plans for professional development are not sufficiently well focused to raise the quality of teaching and learning to the highest levels.

p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a robust awareness of the signs that might indicate a child is at risk. She knows the steps to follow should she have any concerns about a child's safety or welfare. The childminder attends training to help her maintain a good understanding of child protection procedures and wider safeguarding issues. She ensures that her home is a safe and hygienic environment for children. For instance, she checks the areas used for childminding each day to identify any potential hazards. She carries out regular practise evacuations so that children know what to do if there is a fire or other emergency.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder maintains a good exchange of information with parents to support children's care and learning. She monitors children's development to ensure they make good progress and plans a good range of activities to promote their ongoing development. For instance, she provides a range of resources, such as paintbrushes and pens, so that children can practise mark making in readiness for learning to write. The childminder helps children to learn about and respect the differences between people and communities. Her resources reflect people from different backgrounds and of different abilities and she teaches children about a range of religious and cultural events.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is a good role model, she speaks to children kindly and respectfully and demonstrates good manners and behaviour. For example, she shows children how to take turns with resources and encourages them to tidy away after play. Children demonstrate that they feel confident and secure in the childminder's care. For instance, they confidently share their ideas and opinions and snuggle on the sofa with her when they are tired. The childminder ensures that children have opportunities for exercise and vigorous play outdoors each day. For example, she takes them on visits to nearby parks, where children enjoy using the large apparatus to climb and balance. The childminder understands how to provide healthy eating choices for children to help them enjoy a balanced diet.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their individual starting points. They acquire a range of skills to support the next stage in their development and help them prepare for school. Children develop good social skills. They show high levels of self-assurance as they interact with others and they behave well. Children who speak English as an additional language communicate confidently and rapidly add to their English vocabulary. Children enjoy being creative and use their imaginations as they play. For example, they pretend to care for dolls and paint pictures to represent a sunny day.
