This provision is good
The childminder is dedicated to developing her early years knowledge and skills to help her effectively meet children's care and learning needs. She has attended various training courses, which supports the development of her teaching practice. The childminder promotes children's learning and demonstrates good quality teaching. Children make good progress from their starting points. The childminder reflects on the service she provides. She uses questionnaires to seek the views of parents and children. This helps her to identify and address areas for improvement. The childminder provides children with balanced and nutritious home-cooked evening meals and regular opportunities to be active. This helps children to gain an understanding of the benefits of physical exercise and leading a healthy lifestyle. Parents provide packed lunches that complement children's healthy eating.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder sometimes misses opportunities to further increase children's understanding and use of number language. The childminder does not always involve parents in their child's learning, so that they can work together to help children make even better progress.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector evaluated a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector spoke with the children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, including evidence of the suitability of all persons living in the household. The inspector discussed with the childminder how she reflects on her practice. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written feedback they shared with the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder identifies the possible signs of abuse and is fully aware of whom to contact should she have concerns about a child's welfare. She maintains documents and implements policies that ensure the effective management of her provision. Children's personal records are kept securely and confidentiality is respected. Parents' comments about the childminder and the service she provides are extremely complimentary. The childminder understands the importance of working with staff at other early years settings that children attend. The well-established links with teachers at the local school support continuity in children's learning and development.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder frequently observes children and tracks their progress. She uses this information to plan experiences that extend children's learning and help her close any identified gaps in their development. The childminder skilfully supports younger children's language development, speaking clearly and gently repeating words where necessary. She responds to what the children do and say, introducing new words to help extend their vocabulary. The childminder promotes children's literacy skills well, encouraging them to listen to stories and discuss their ideas. Children thoroughly enjoy opportunities to initiate their own play and they do this with confidence. They enjoy mixing paints to create different colours and competently name these. They use paintbrushes adeptly dipping them into paint. As they paint numerous plastic animals' children spontaneously make up songs about them. Children start to make connections as they enthusiastically make

animals noises. As they persevere at tasks children show curiosity as they explore various toys frozen in cubes of ice.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children enjoy a good range of experiences in the childminder's home and when visiting local amenities. This includes regular outings to playgroups and parks. These opportunities support children to learn good interpersonal and emotional skills. The childminder interacts positively with children. She listens to them and praises their efforts, which helps to raise their self-esteem. The childminder uses daily routines to extend children's learning opportunities. For example, children's independence skills are promoted as they learn to wash their hands properly before snack or meals.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are motivated, independent learners who socialise well with each other and visitors. They are confident to explore their surroundings using their imagination, toys and equipment to extend their play. Children are keen to be involved in activities, showing sustained participation. They quickly learn the words to familiar songs and rhymes. Children are well prepared for the next stage in their learning and eventual move on to school.
