This provision is good
The childminder has worked hard to successfully raise the standard of her provision to a high level. She has taken advantage of professional development opportunities to increase her knowledge and to improve her practice. The childminder is well organised and she makes regular assessments of children's achievements. She consistently shares information with parents and provides detailed records of their child's progress. The childminder shares information with other settings where children attend and she effectively complements their learning and experiences. The childminder promotes children's learning well through various activities. She plans purposefully and uses skilful teaching to help children make good progress in their development. Children demonstrate that they feel secure to play on their own or with other children. Their behaviour is good. Children maintain concentration while they explore the

environment and develop their independent play activities.

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not provide enough opportunities for children to think about problems and how they may resolve these. The childminder does not help children to learn the reasons for eating the nutritious contents of their lunch boxes as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during indoor activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector evaluated an activity with the childminder. The inspector spoke with the childminder and discussed the self-evaluation process. The inspector spoke with the children at convenient times during the inspection. The inspector reviewed a sample of documents and records used for the safe recruitment of staff. The inspector read written feedback from parents and took account of their views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder is committed to providing a high standard of learning and care for children. She has attended several training courses and enhanced her understanding of how to promote children's development effectively. As a result, the childminder tracks children's development accurately and the planning for their individual learning is effective. The childminder consistently evaluates her teaching and makes improvements to the methods she uses to help children learn. Regular supervisions with her assistants enable them to gain a greater understanding of their roles to support children. The childminder has successfully addressed the actions and recommendations from the last inspection, with positive results for children. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder and her assistants know what to do should they have concerns about the welfare of any child in their care.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder promotes children's learning well through a good mix of adult-led activities and child-led play. She competently adapts her teaching to fit in with children's preferences. The childminder makes effective use of toys and resources to support their learning. For example, she encourages them to look at the cars and then to draw circular shapes that represent wheels. The childminder includes many opportunities for children to practise making marks and to count. Good levels of challenge and lots of praise motivate children in their learning. The childminder effectively uses information from regular observations and precise assessments to plan for the next steps in children's learning. She has good knowledge of the children and knows how to engage them so that they enjoy activities.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are confident and ask the childminder for help when they need support. She promotes their independence well and consistently encourages them to wipe their own noses. Children are truly comfortable in the childminder's home. They can select their favourite toys from the wide range of resources that are within reach. Children enjoy the varied contents of their lunch boxes and they regularly drink water. They consistently follow routines to wash their hands before eating meals. Children play well together and move freely between the outdoor space and indoors. The childminder provides a calm environment and this contributes well to children's emotional security in the setting.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress from their starting points. They learn to take turns and to share resources while they play. They make marks and learn to write letters in their names. Children are able to put on their coats and shoes with minimal help. They develop the social skills to mix in large groups away from the childminder's home. Children are gaining the skills they need for the move on to nursery and school.
