This provision is good
The childminder captures children's achievements as they play. She uses this information effectively to identify their next steps in learning. This contributes towards children making good progress. Children behave very well. The childminder has high expectations of children and actively encourages them to share, respect each other and be kind. The childminder accurately monitors children's development and ensures that any gaps are identified early and appropriate interventions planned. The childminder successfully implements a good range of policies and procedures. This contributes towards her maintaining a safe and secure environment for children. The childminder provides a varied range of learning opportunities based on children's interests. For example, the childminder supports children as they enjoy exploring sand and water.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Strategies to share information about children's learning and development with other settings that children attend are not yet firmly established. The information that is initially requested from parents about children's prior learning is not comprehensive enough to help to inform planning right from the start.

Inspection activities
The inspector engaged in discussions with the childminder and children throughout the inspection at appropriate times. The inspector discussed methods used for self-evaluation and how the views of parents and children are included to drive improvement. The inspector took into account the written views of parents. The inspector observed play and learning opportunities for children and undertook a joint observation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector viewed areas of the childminder's home used for childminding. The inspector reviewed relevant documentation, including evidence of qualifications and suitability of household members, children's learning journals and a sample of policies and procedures.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of the different types of abuse and is aware of whom to contact should she have concerns about a child's welfare. She attends statutory training, such as first aid. The childminder regularly evaluates her provision. She uses feedback from parents and children, and holds daily discussions to ensure the provision continues to meet the needs of children effectively. The childminder keeps parents up to date verbally each day, about their child's day. This makes a strong contribution to meeting children's needs.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses her strong knowledge of how children learn and her expertise in teaching to provide some outstanding learning opportunities. For example, she skilfully questions children, encouraging them to think for themselves as they learn words beginning with the letter 'S'. The childminder repeats words to extend children's vocabulary and understanding. Children confidently use their imagination as they role play. The childminder joins in with play or is nearby to support learning. Children develop good mathematical skills. The childminder introduces positional language and sizes, and helps older children to count as they play. Children are enthusiastic and motivated learners.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children have access to a good range of resources, which is easily accessible to enable them to participate in purposeful play. The environment is warm and welcoming. Children's individual care needs are met well and their confidence and emotional well- being are effectively supported. The childminder promotes healthy lifestyles, and children are provided with a good range of healthy foods. Children benefit from regular outings in the local area, such as visits to local parks and playgroups. These outings help children to be active and develop good social skills. Children develop a respectful awareness of diversity. For instance, they learn about different festivals and celebrations throughout the year. Children have a good awareness of keeping themselves safe and the childminder talks about the importance of safety throughout their daily routines. For example, children learn about road safety as they walk to and from the local school.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress. They develop good levels of independence and confidence. For example, they help to make their own lunches and, on arrival, children confidently identify their names to self-register. Children develop skills for their future learning and eventual move on to nursery or school.
