This provision is good
The extremely caring and attentive childminder provides superb support to children's social and emotional development. She gets to know children exceptionally well and nurtures their friendships. Children form exceedingly close and affectionate bonds with the childminder and each other. Children benefit from an inspirational learning environment with an extensive range of resources that ignites and inspires their learning. Children thoroughly enjoy exploring. They develop their curiosity and make good progress from their starting points. The childminder assesses children's levels of development accurately. She works in close partnership with parents and plans interesting activities that are centred around children's particular interests and individual needs. The childminder is reflective and continually strives to provide a high-quality service for children and families. She takes into account the views of children and parents to

evaluate her practice successfully and improve outcomes for children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Occasionally, the childminder does not extend activities as far as possible to provide even more challenge and help children to make rapid progress in their learning and development. Although the childminder promotes children's creativity well overall, she misses some opportunities to encourage them to develop their sense of rhythm and sounds.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder engaged in activities with children. The inspector talked to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector observed the children with the childminder and discussed their learning and development. The inspector looked at a sample of documents, including children's records. The inspector looked at written comments from parents and took account of their views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder knows the signs that would lead her to be concerned about a child's welfare. She is clear about local safeguarding procedures. The childminder provides a safe and secure environment and ensures children know how to play safely in her home and on outings. The childminder keeps her knowledge and skills up to date, for example, by carrying out research into children's learning styles. Children benefit from activities that they find very enjoyable and become motivated and enthusiastic learners. The childminder monitors children's development conscientiously and addresses any gaps in their learning successfully. She works in good partnership with outside agencies and other providers to provide a good level of consistency for children's care and learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a good understanding of how to promote children's learning through purposeful play. She follows their lead and continually supports them as opportunities arise. For example, as children enjoy water play, she encourages them to count and make simple calculations as they eagerly explore different quantities of water beads. They develop a good understanding of mathematical concepts as they solve practical problems for themselves. The childminder skilfully supports children's language development. For example, she suggests new words to extend their vocabulary. She expertly encourages them to talk activities through and explain their thoughts and they become fluent and confident communicators.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children's behaviour is exemplary. The childminder provides excellent encouragement to support them to share and cooperate during play. For example, they are extremely considerate and kindly pass resources to each other to ensure everyone can join in popular activities. Children develop extremely high levels of independence. They relish the responsibilities the childminder gives them for preparing their own snacks and getting ready to play outside. Children benefit enormously from the extremely valuable experiences they gain from being physically active indoors and outside. They develop an excellent understanding of how to lead a healthy lifestyle through growing and harvesting their own fruit and vegetables on an allotment.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children gain the skills they need for future learning and starting school. They enjoy leading their play. They become inquisitive learners and concentrate for sustained periods of time. Children gain good physical skills. They manipulate tools and equipment with increasing dexterity, helping them to control their play and develop their skills in all areas of learning well. Children listen carefully and respect each other's views.
