This provision is good
The childminder provides a welcoming environment. Children have easy access to an extensive range of resources and equipment that reflects their interests and individual needs. This supports children to be motivated to learn. The childminder continuously observes children as they play. This supports her to make accurate assessments of their current developmental stage and to plan enjoyable activities that will interest them and enhance their learning further. Children have many opportunities to visit places of interest in the local environment. For example, they visit local parks and the local river to see new ducklings that have hatched. This helps to extend their knowledge and understanding of nature. The childminder undertakes regular, robust checks on the premises, resources and outings to eliminate risks. This supports her to keep children safe, while in her care.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
On some occasions, the childminder does not fully support children's understanding of the benefits of healthy eating. The childminder does not always seek the views of parents in her self-evaluation to help to identify ways to improve her practice and provision to the highest levels possible.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector spoke to the childminder and the children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector observed the childminder's interactions with the children. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including policies and procedures, and children's records. The inspector conducted a tour of the areas of the premises used for childminding purposes. The inspector viewed, and took into account, written feedback from children and parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder has a positive attitude to training to help her to continue and extend her professional development. For instance, she has completed early years statutory framework training, which has supported her to improve her assessments of children's development. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is aware of her duty to prevent children from being drawn into situations that may put them at risk of significant harm. She is aware of the reporting procedures to follow if she were to become concerned for a child's welfare or safety.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder works closely with parents to gather and share regular information about children's interests and development. This helps her to gain a deeper knowledge of how to support children and their development. The childminder and the parents provide effective consistency in children's learning across the settings. This helps to promote good outcomes for children. The childminder introduces mathematical concepts to children throughout the day. For instance, she encourages them to count the fruit as they put them into the blender when making snacks. The childminder provides children with access to a wide range of technology equipment to help them to learn about how things work. For instance, young children independently access musical books, turn them on and twirl like ballerinas as they hear the music that comes out. The childminder constantly builds on children's growing vocabulary and confidence to speak. For example, she encourages

them to talk about their interests and the things they like.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is an effective role model for children, who continuously encourages good manners. She explains boundaries and expectations, which helps children to become socially aware and to understand what acceptable behaviour is. For example, younger children are encouraged to share and take turns with equipment. The childminder efficiently supports children's self-esteem and sense of pride. For instance, she praises children for their efforts and achievements. The childminder supports children's physical development well. For example, children benefit from daily outdoor play and regularly visit local parks. She teaches them how to stay safe, by reminding children that only one person is allowed to access the trampoline at a time. They also visit local soft-play areas, where they are able to take risks in a safe environment.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop good levels of confidence and independence. For example, they cut up their own fruit to make smoothies and take off their shoes to try on dressing-up shoes. They develop an enjoyment of books and listen well during daily story times. Children are beginning to identify meaningful letters for themselves. For example, they recognise the first letter of their name. They develop the skills and knowledge needed to help prepare them for the next stage in their learning, including the move to school.
