The inspector sampled written documentation, such as children's records and information provided for parents. The inspector interacted with the children and took account of parents' views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding
The childminder is highly meticulous in her methods of meeting and exceeding the legal requirements to promote children's learning and protect their welfare. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has an excellent understanding of her responsibility to safeguard children and the procedures to follow in the event of a concern. A recent safety review is effectively shared with parents. The childminder is extremely motivated and takes every opportunity to learn more. For example, training has helped her to develop new methods to support children who are learning English as an additional language. The childminder critically reflects on her practice. She cultivates the partnerships with parents and others extremely well and plans to develop this area of expertise further.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder provides a rich range of learning experiences for children and uses highly successful teaching methods to help them to make rapid progress in their learning. For example, toddlers discover how to make patterns with paint, squeezing pipettes, which helps to strengthen their finger muscles. Older children also practise picking up small items with tweezers, which helps to prepare their progression towards writing. Younger children have fun delving into boxes full of natural resources. The childminder encourages their happy chatting while making shapes and models, such as ice-cream cones, in the sand. Older children use their imagination well. They proudly produce their creative work, such as collages from leaves and bark to make trees.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
The childminder bonds with children extremely well and expertly personalises their care from day one. Children are drawn to the wealth of resources both indoors and outside, and learn how to keep safe. For example, outings to the woods challenge their awareness of the hazards of uneven surfaces while climbing hills. The childminder also helps children learn how to respect animals and reptiles, such as the pet tortoise, which they handle carefully. Children learn about healthy eating. For example, they grow vegetables and the childminder encourages them to taste different fruits, such as mango. The childminder teaches children vital social skills, such as sharing. Children take the lead from the childminder. She encourages positive behaviour, which is highly effective.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children are highly motivated and eager to join in. They are successful learners and really enjoy their time with the childminder. Children enjoy stories and solve problems through making their own constructions. Children benefit from excellent opportunities to learn about other people, families and communities, and are extremely well equipped for the next stages in their learning and, eventually, school.
