Safeguarding is effective. The childminder demonstrates a good understanding of the local safeguarding procedures and is aware of the steps to follow should she be concerned about a child's welfare. She supervises children well and is vigilant. The childminder reviews the safety of her premises daily. For instance, she ensures that all small toys that are not suitable for children's age are locked away out of the reach of small children. The childminder has improved how children's attendance records are documented to help support their welfare. The childminder works closely with other childminders and shares practice ideas. She regularly reviews and evaluates her practice and provision, and effectively revitalises the play areas. This creates a wider range of stimulating and challenging experiences for children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children make good progress in their learning, overall. The childminder places a strong focus on children learning about the natural world, animals and growing seeds. For example, children enjoy reading books and looking at life cycles. They recognise that print carries meaning, confidently express their thoughts and ideas, and start to predict story outcomes. The childminder fosters children's active learning and provides a range of interesting resources to encourage their involvement and extend their play. For example, she provides a range of puzzles and items for children to learn how to operate, to give children different experiences and challenges.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a homely, caring environment. Children are happy and confident. For example, they comfortably express their needs to the childminder. Relevant information is collected from parents about their child's care. This helps children to settle in their new surroundings and build good relationships with the childminder. The childminder promotes children's health and well-being successfully. For example, she teaches them about good hygiene practices and provides healthy snacks which children enjoy. The childminder provides opportunities for children to participate in a variety of physical activities. The childminder acknowledges children's efforts and achievements. This helps them to gain confidence and positive self-esteem. The childminder helps children to understand peoples' similarities and differences in the community and the wider world.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are self-motivated in their play and are keen to learn. They develop a positive awareness of early mathematical concepts, such as numbers and counting. They develop skills for writing and are competent communicators. Children learn how to share, take turns and play with others. They develop self-care skills and are independent. Children are prepared well for their next stages in learning and eventual move on to school.
