This provision is good
Children develop a secure and trusting bond with the childminder. They are confident and comfortable in her care. They enjoy finding their name when they enter the setting and develop a sense of belonging. Partnerships with parents are strong. The childminder shares information with parents about children's development and routines. She supports parents to continue learning at home and celebrates children's achievements. The childminder promotes children's communication and language development well. Children who speak English as an additional language make good progress. The childminder quickly identifies if there are gaps in children's learning and works hard to ensure their rapid improvement. The childminder continually reflects on her practice and the service she provides. She evaluates her activities to ensure they meet the needs of the children. She asks parents and children for their views and takes these into account when planning to make

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector held discussions with the childminder and spoke to children. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as children's records, suitability and qualifications, policies and procedures. The inspector took account of the views of parents by reading their feedback on questionnaires.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder manages her setting efficiently and professionally. She keeps meticulous records of children's routines and progress. This helps her to make accurate assessments of their abilities. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder understands the importance of keeping up to date with safeguarding matters and undertakes regular training. She is fully aware of her responsibilities to protect the children in her care. She keeps good records of any accidents or injuries and children's attendance. She knows how to report any concerns about children's well-being and where to go for support. The childminder knows how to keep children safe. She carries out thorough risk assessments of the play and learning environment and on everyday outings.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder pays particular attention to the way children learn. She understands their learning styles and tailors her teaching to meet their needs. She carefully assesses children's development and accurately identifies what they need to learn next, overall. She provides challenging and interesting activities to promote creative thinking and problem solving. For example, children squirt blobs of paint on paper and roll corks in it to make patterns. They find out how different sizes of corks work best and how easily they mix up the colours. Children prod them with their fingers, feeling the sensory texture of the paint. Children concentrate hard and work things out for themselves. This helps to develop independence and encourages further learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children really enjoy role play in the setting. They pretend to cook and the childminder helps extend their learning through books and discussions. Children enjoy pretending to be shopkeepers. They scan items at a toy check-out and learn about different methods of payment, such as by credit card, and they learn about Personal Identification Numbers. The childminder supports children's learning as they play. She talks about the products they sell and whether they will be healthy to eat. The childminder provides children with a varied and healthy diet. They help to produce menus and prepare their own food. Children's behaviour is good. They independently manage their own personal care. Children play outdoors every day and enjoy digging and planting, and sand and water play. They develop their physical skills riding on tricycles and enjoy outings to the park and woodlands.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children learn about the world around them. They learn about people who are different from themselves in the local community. They learn about traditions and customs as they make a card for their daddy on Father's Day. They learn about rulers and measurement, and how to draw and cut a straight line. Children make good progress in readiness for school. They learn to recognise numbers and letters. They learn to count and identify colours and shapes.
