This provision is good
The childminder has accurately evaluated the quality of her provision and seeks feedback from parents and children. She has identified appropriate targets for the future development of her setting. The childminder has warm relationships with children and knows them well. She asks children what they would like to do and encourages them to follow their own interests. The childminder regularly shares information with parents and supports them to be involved in their children's learning. For example, she prepares and shares activities for parents to do with their children at home. Children progress well from their individual starting points. The childminder provides effective support to help children gain good communication and language skills and prepares them well for school. For example, she ensures children have ample time and opportunities to practise fastening their coats up before going outside.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not make the best use of information gathered from monitoring children's development, to meticulously plan for individual children's learning and help them make more rapid progress. The childminder does not engage in specific and targeted professional development opportunities to enhance her knowledge and skills even further.

Inspection activities
The inspector reviewed parents' written feedback and took account of their views. The inspector had a tour of the areas of the premises used for childminding purposes. The inspector observed activities in the indoor and outdoor areas. She jointly evaluated practice with the childminder. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. She reviewed documentation, including evidence of the childminder's qualifications, suitability and policies.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of how to identify and report safeguarding and wider child protection concerns. The childminder has thoroughly risk assessed her home and takes appropriate action to minimise potential hazards. The childminder works effectively with parents. She consistently involves them in their children's learning. Parents' feedback about the quality of care the childminder provides is positive. They feel that their children enjoy their time with the childminder and are progressing well. The childminder has high expectations for children's good behaviour and models manners and social skills well.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder understands how children learn. She regularly observes children and assesses their development. The childminder provides a good variety of activities that she uses to promote all areas of children's learning well overall. For example, she helps to develop children's understanding of technology as they use digital scales to weigh baking ingredients. The childminder joins in with children's play. She encourages them to solve problems, such as how to connect a train track together and how to share out the trains so that children have the same number each. The childminder uses this opportunity to talk about the wider world, such as what traffic lights and railway signals are for. Children enjoy developing their physical skills in the outdoor area. For example, they develop coordination and balance as they kick footballs and use outdoor play equipment. Children cooperate and play imaginatively as they fill up a large digger with stones.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children behave well. They have a clear understanding of the rules set by the childminder and follow these well. Children demonstrate a good understanding of how to keep themselves safe. For example, they safely use equipment, such as swings and trampolines with minimal support from the childminder. Children are encouraged to follow hygiene routines and the childminder successfully minimises the risk of cross-infection. She has created a welcoming and flexible learning environment. Children move between rooms to select resources they would like to play with. The childminder provides regular opportunities for children to explore the local community and socialise with other children at local playgroups.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children progress well from their starting points. They learn skills that help to prepare them for their future learning. For example, children patiently wait for their turn during a baking activity. They demonstrate helpful behaviour, such as taking the baking equipment to the sink ready to be washed. Children listen to adults and follow instructions well. Older children begin to recognise written numbers and successfully count groups of objects to match the number.
