This provision is good
The childminder and her assistants regularly observe children's progress. They use the information effectively to plan their next steps in learning and provide stimulating and challenging experiences that support children's good development. Children are well supervised and the childminder understands the importance of keeping children safe and secure in her care. Together with her assistants, they make daily checks of the premises and ensures the environment is safe for children. The childminder and her assistants have high expectations for behaviour to help children to develop positive attitudes towards others. Children use good manners. The childminder has a positive attitude to training to support the development of her skills and those of her assistants. This helps to maintain a good quality of teaching and further supports children's care and learning.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder does not ensure group activities meet the needs of the younger children. The childminder does not fully extend partnerships with parents to encourage them to support further continuity in learning and to strengthen the planning even further.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector spoke to the childminder, the assistants and the children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector observed the childminder's and the assistants' interactions with the children. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including policies, procedures and children's records, and conducted a tour of the areas of premises used for childminding purposes. The inspector and childminder jointly observed children at play. The inspector viewed, and took into account, written feedback from parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder and her assistants have a good understanding of child protection and of how to recognise the signs that would give them cause for concern. They know where to report any concerns about children's well-being, should the need arise. The childminder works closely with her assistants to make sure that they are meeting children's needs well. For example, they meet weekly to discuss practice issues or any concerns they may have. The childminder and her assistants evaluate the service effectively to identify areas for development and make changes that benefit children. The childminder further strengthens her evaluations by seeking the views of parents. Parents' written comments demonstrate they are very happy with the service.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children have good opportunities to learn about the world. For example, they enjoy exploring the garden to find mini-beasts and use magnifying glasses to look more closely at the worms they find. The childminder provides children with plenty of opportunities to be creative. For instance, they have great fun exploring musical instruments and enthusiastically sing and dance to music that they create. The childminder provides a good range of activities to support older children to develop their early writing skills. For example, they enjoy using wipe books where they create lots of marks and patterns. This helps to encourage children's pre-writing skills. Younger children relish sensory experiences. They use their hands and various tools to explore the texture and feel of cornflour.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are happy in the care of the childminder and her assistants. They develop good relationships with others as they learn to share resources fairly and take turns. The childminder encourages children to develop good self-help skills. For example, children take off their own shoes and coats when they come in from the garden. The childminder helps children to adopt healthy eating habits and learn where food comes from. For instance, children help the childminder to collect eggs from the chicken coop. Children increase their understanding of diversity through meaningful play and engaging activities. They gain a positive awareness of self and of their peers when they share each other's family books.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning. They are well prepared for their next stages in learning and for the move to school. Children enjoy regular visits to a range of places in their local community where they socialise with a wider set of friends. They develop good mathematical skills, such as by singing songs that help support their knowledge of counting. Younger children independently access play resources and confidently use experiment, develop their own ideas, and use words and babbles to express themselves.
