This provision is good
The childminder is dedicated to providing high-quality childcare in her home-from-home setting. She has an excellent understanding of the requirements of the early years foundation stage and ensures that she meets these at all times. The childminder completes comprehensive assessments of children's development that are shared regularly with parents and carers. She carefully notes any 'wow' moments when children achieve important milestones or make particularly good progress. Children make excellent progress. Most children are developing appropriately for their age and some children are exceeding age-related expectations. Children make particularly good progress in their personal, social and emotional development. Children's behaviour is very good. They benefit from clear and consistent boundaries. The childminder works in close partnership with parents to ensure that she offers consistent strategies for managing children's behaviour.
p.1
This provision is good
Children play happily with a wide range of appropriate toys and resources. The childminder provides play areas that are bright, welcoming and well organised for children. Children also enjoy easy access to a large, secure, outdoor play area.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always fully consider how she can differentiate her teaching to ensure that babies are as consistently well challenged and stimulated as older children, particularly during adult-led activities.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

enhance teaching, particularly with babies, and fully consider how to set high expectations to ensure babies are well challenged during planned activities with older children.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector discussed children's learning with the childminder, following the observation of an activity. The inspector viewed all areas of the home used for childminding and observed activities. She spoke to the children at appropriate times while they played. The inspector discussed children's learning and development with the childminder and looked at children's records. The inspector viewed a number of policies and procedures, and checked the suitability of adults living in the house. The inspector took account of the views of parents by reading their written feedback.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good understanding of the possible signs and symptoms of abuse and knows whom to contact if she has concerns about the welfare of a child. The childminder understands the potential dangers of children being exposed to extreme thoughts and opinions. The childminder reflects on her practice and recognises the importance of making continual improvements to her provision. For example, she keeps her knowledge and skills up to date by sharing good practice with other local childminders and attending training. The childminder monitors children's learning and development. She identifies any areas for development accurately and works in partnership with parents to support children's progress.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The experienced childminder knows the children she cares for very well. She plans a wide range of interesting activities for them to enjoy while they are in her care. For example, older children enjoy creating creatures out of play dough, feathers and pipe cleaners. The childminder talks to them as they play, asking them questions and extending their learning through discussion. For example, children talk to the childminder about how rainbows appear in the sky, while they are playing. Younger children interact happily with older children, clapping their hands in delight as the older children pull silly faces at them or sing them songs. The childminder keeps her skills and knowledge up to date. She attends regular training and development sessions, which help to influence her good teaching skills. For example, the childminder has recently attended a course on supporting children's speech and language skills. Parents praise the childminder very highly and are

pleased with the care that she offers children.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children develop close relationships with the childminder and her family. They feel settled, happy and content in her care. Children learn about healthy lifestyles while they are with the childminder. They enjoy a wide range of fresh fruit and vegetables for their snack. The childminder is a good role model and promotes the use of good manners. Children play cooperatively and learn to share and take turns. The childminder helps children to manage their feelings, promotes taking turns and offers additional resources with which to play. Children have plenty of opportunity to play outside and get lots of fresh air and exercise while they are with the childminder.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Older children are very well prepared for school and future learning. They add and subtract small numbers and are beginning to recognise some initial sounds and letters. Babies crawl, walk and climb confidently. They chatter and babble excitedly to the childminder. All children make good progress from their starting points in learning.
