This provision is good
The childminder is conscientious and hardworking. She takes her own professional development very seriously and has completed a number of training courses since her last inspection. These have helped to influence her good teaching practice and children make good progress. The childminder is kind and considerate towards children. She has a gentle nature and speaks calmly with children. Children demonstrate strong bonds with the childminder. They enjoy their play and have fun with the other children who also attend. Partnerships with parents and other professionals are good. The childminder shares regular information about children's development with parents so that they can support learning in the home environment. She follows advice from other agencies involved in children's care to ensure consistency and promote the best outcomes for children. The childminder plans a range of suitable activities for children to enjoy while they are

with her, generally. She takes children on regular outings and visits local toddler groups and parks regularly. This supports children to socialise with other children outside of the setting.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently provide children with opportunities to express themselves freely and fully explore their own ideas as they participate in planned creative activities. On occasions, the childminder does not make the most of opportunities to help children understand what is expected of them.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

enhance opportunities for children to express their own ideas freely using a range of media that fully promotes their creativity and sensory exploration build on the good behaviour management strategies and focus more closely on helping children to understand what is expected of them.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed a range of activities and the impact on children's development. The inspector held discussions with the childminder and spoke to the children. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, including evidence of the suitability of adults living in the household. The inspector reviewed an activity with the childminder. The inspector took the written views of parents into account.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has completed a number of safeguarding courses since the last inspection. She has a secure knowledge and understanding of the possible signs and symptoms of abuse. She is confident to make a referral if she has any concerns about the welfare of a child. The childminder supervises children safely at all times. She ensures that children are safe and secure while they are playing and exploring. The childminder records any accidents or incidents that happen while children are in her care. She ensures that parents are suitably informed of these. The childminder is very reflective of her own practice. She completes a reflective log and notes any learning from training courses that she has completed. She has recently noted that she would like to introduce more 'loose parts' exploration into planned activities to encourage children's creativity even further.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder monitors children's development closely. She completes regular assessments of children's progress and identifies clear next steps in learning for them. The childminder models how to use a range of tools and equipment while children play with play dough. Children copy her movements and attempt to make 'worms' out of the play dough. The childminder talks to children as they play and encourages them to 'have a go'. Children enjoy a range of experiences while they are with the childminder. She uses their interests well to extend learning. For example, she encourages children's love of books and they enjoy visits to the library.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder acts as a good role model for children. She helps them to settle well and gains detailed information from parents about children's routines and preferences before they attend her setting. She supervises children well and teaches them how to keep themselves safe. Children are encouraged to follow good hygiene practices and develop their self-care skills. The childminder provides healthy choices during snack time. Children thoroughly enjoy a wide range of fresh fruit to eat. There are also lots of opportunities for children to enjoy physical exercise, including trips to the local park and play in the childminder's own garden.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress from their starting points. They are well prepared for school and their future learning. Early mathematical skills are emerging and children routinely use number language in their play as well as beginning to compare the size of different items. For example, when playing with a set of Russian dolls children can say which dolls are bigger and which are smaller, as well as counting the number of dolls.
