This provision is good
The childminder has good relationships with parents. She gains a full range of information about what children know and can do when they first start and shares information about children's progress regularly. All children make good progress from their starting points. The childminder promotes children's growing language and communication well. For example, babies babble happily and react enthusiastically to the childminder's interactions. The childminder responds to their non-verbal communication, supporting their emotional well-being highly effectively. The childminder regularly evaluates the quality of the service she provides. She values feedback from parents and other professionals, and uses this to improve outcomes for children and their families. The childminder supervises children vigilantly. She carries out rigorous risk assessments to identify and address potential hazards.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not explore a wider range of opportunities to enhance the quality of teaching to the very highest level. Babies and young children do not have consistent opportunities to develop their senses and high levels of curiosity skills even further.

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of local safeguarding procedures and knows what action to take if she has any child protection concerns. The childminder attends mandatory training, such as paediatric first aid, to refresh her knowledge. She regularly updates her policies and procedures, and keeps up to date with latest guidance and legislation. The childminder closely monitors children's progress to help address and close any emerging gaps in their development. Partnerships with other professionals are effective. The childminder has good links with local schools and regularly communicates with teachers.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder makes detailed observations of children as they play. She starts to assess their progress as soon as they start with her and uses her knowledge of their interests and developmental needs well to support their learning. Children show an interest in early literacy development. For example, babies enjoy looking at pictures and begin to turn pages of books. They push buttons and explore how things work, understanding that they make different sounds. The childminder supports children to develop mathematical skills effectively. For example, she introduces the concept of numbers and counting through daily activities and routines. The childminder constantly boosts children's self-esteem and praises their efforts and achievements.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are happy and settle quickly. The childminder tends to their needs sensitively, such as nappy changes and gently rocking babies to sleep. Children develop strong bonds and trusting relationships with the childminder, who meets their individual care needs well. For instance, she has recently improved how she organises the environment, to provide more space for babies and children to play and explore. The childminder promotes good standards for children's self-care routines, such as handwashing. Young children learn about the importance of good health and benefit from plenty of fresh air and exercise. The childminder regularly takes children on trips in the local area, supporting them to learn about their community. She promotes diversity well, such as sharing traditions linked with worldwide celebrations. Children behave well.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Overall, babies develop their physical skills well and demonstrate growing mobility. For example, they crawl, pull themselves up, and show good balance and coordination. Children concentrate intently and persevere until they complete their goal. The childminder supports children to become confident and motivated learners. She prepares them well for the next stage in their development and their eventual move on to nursery school.
