This provision is good
The childminder reviews her provision carefully. She has taken effective action to successfully raise the quality of the service she provides to improve outcomes for children. The childminder provides children with a well-planned and stimulating learning environment that captivates their imaginations and motivates them to play and explore. The childminder monitors children's learning and development carefully and makes accurate assessments of the progress they make. She uses her good understanding of how young children learn to plan challenging activities to help them achieve their next steps in learning. Children make good progress. The childminder and her assistant are positive role models. Children have a clear understanding of what is expected of them and behave well. They develop good social skills and play harmoniously. For example, they show a strong sense of team work as they work together to construct models.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Although teaching is good, the childminder has not identified some occasions where her assistant's interactions with children can be enhanced even further. At times, the childminder and her assistant do not fully consider how they can adapt adult-led activities that maximise the learning opportunities for the youngest children.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke with the childminder and her assistant at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector and the childminder observed an activity and discussed it together. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, including suitability checks, policies and children's records. The inspector took account of parents' views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder and her assistant have attended relevant safeguarding training. They know the procedures to follow if they were to have concerns about the welfare of a child. The childminder works well in partnership with parents. She has frequent discussions with parents about their children's progress and well-being to meet children's individual needs. She gives them ideas to help them support their children's learning at home. The childminder provides some opportunities for her assistant to extend his professional skills. For example, he has completed training to extend his understanding of how young children learn.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder and her assistant provide children with effective support to develop their communication and language. Children contribute to lively discussions about their experiences away from the setting, such as the seaside, and talk about their family members. Older children provide clear instructions about how to build a sandcastle. The childminder and her assistant challenge children to extend their physical skills. Children explore different ways to use slides and negotiate climbing obstacles. They put out their arms to balance as they climb up and down soft play steps and ramps. The childminder encourages creativity successfully. Children show a good sense of rhythm as they use wooden spoons and saucepans to create a musical accompaniment to rhymes.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder and her assistant relate to children in a warm and nurturing way. Children are happy and at ease in their care. The childminder and her assistant have a good knowledge of children's individual care needs and have careful plans to ensure these are met well. Children gain a good understanding about healthy lifestyles. They learn about staying safe in the sun and enjoy the healthy meals provided. Children progress well with their independence. They dress and undress in their outdoor clothes and learn to manage their own needs.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children gain a secure foundation for their future learning, including starting school. They are motivated to learn and become immersed in their play. Children have good ideas and are inventive, for example, they decide to use the mouths of toy animals to scoop sand. They persevere when activities present challenges and focus well. Children progress well with their literacy and mathematical understanding. They are keen to make marks with brushes and water and talk about their favourite stories. They learn to count, recognise number and sort objects. Children develop their understanding of the world and learn about different habitats, such as the sea.
