This provision is good
Children benefit from a strong relationship with the childminder. She knows their individual routines and personalities. Children are happy, settled and confident in her care, supporting their well-being effectively. Partnership working with parents is strong. The childminder regularly exchanges information to help ensure continuity in children's care and learning, for example, through daily discussions and regular parents' meetings. Children benefit from exploring the local environment. For instance, they visit local shops, libraries and parks, and regularly attend playgroups. Children make good progress in relation to their starting points. The childminder monitors their achievements well and identifies where children require additional support. She makes effective use of activities to help them catch up in their learning. The childminder continues to develop and improve her knowledge and address the

issues raised at the previous inspection. For example, she attends training and works closely with the early years adviser.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Occasionally, the childminder does not build on children's counting skills to extend their mathematical development as fully as possible. The childminder does not consistently organise the environment to offer the best encouragement for children to make choices and become fully engaged in activities.

Inspection activities
The inspector spoke to the childminder at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector engaged with the children during the inspection. The inspector observed the children during their indoor and outdoor play activities as well as during their snack routine. The inspector sampled various documents, including children's learning records, the childminder's self-evaluation, risk assessments and a selection of policies and procedures.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of how to recognise and report child protection concerns. She ensures all areas are suitable for children to play safely to protect their welfare. The childminder keeps her knowledge of safeguarding matters up to date effectively. For example, she attends regular training and accesses online resources. The childminder regularly reflects on her practice and is committed to continually improving her service. She takes into account children's likes and interests and encourages parents to give their opinions and views when considering areas she could develop. For example, she has recently changed how she shares observations with parents to ensure they understand the information clearly and are kept up to date.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is patient and has a good understanding of children's abilities. She observes and completes regular assessments of children's achievements, helping her to find out what they can do and plan relevant next steps in their learning. The childminder effectively supports young children's communication and language skills. For example, she engages them in worthwhile conversations and emphasises key words to help enhance their understanding and speaking skills. She also speaks to children in their home languages to support their language skills further. Children have good opportunities to explore technology. For instance, younger children learn how to open toys using buttons and the childminder supports children in using computer tablets safely.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are kind, considerate and well mannered. The childminder manages children's behaviour effectively with gentle reminders. For example, she helps them learn how to share and take turns with toys, treating others kindly. The childminder helps children to develop an understanding of good hygiene practices, such as washing their hands before they eat their fruit. The children enjoy balanced and nutritious meals with their likes and dislikes in mind. The childminder supports children to learn about other cultures and diversity. For example, children listen to music and songs that reflect the differences and similarities between themselves and other people.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are gaining a good range of skills ready for the next stage of learning. They are confident, sociable and become increasingly independent. For example, younger children persevere as they learn to open toys or manage simple tasks themselves. Younger children are developing their literacy skills well. For example, they begin to recognise and sound out letters that are familiar to them.
