This provision is good
The childminder reviews her provision effectively to identify areas of her practice to further improve. She has addressed actions and recommendations raised at her last inspection to successfully improve the quality of her provision. The childminder has developed effective methods to monitor children's progress. She works closely with parents and carers to establish children's starting points. She uses this information, together with her own observations, to plan effectively and challenge children to achieve their next steps in learning. All children make good progress and gain a broad range of useful skills that prepares them well for their future learning. They are motivated and have positive attitudes to learning. For example, they ask questions to deepen their understanding. The childminder supports children's emotional security successfully and they form close bonds with her. For example, they seek comfort from her when they become upset and

are quickly soothed. She uses effective strategies to help children to manage their feelings and behaviour. Children behave well.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder has not fully developed arrangements to exchange information successfully with other settings that children attend. The childminder does not fully consider how she can help children to make connections and relate to some topics they explore to support their understanding further.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. She carried out a joint evaluation of the teaching and learning with the childminder. The inspector viewed the areas of the childminder's home used by children. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as policies and children's records. The inspector took account of parents' views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder knows how to seek advice and understands the correct procedures to follow if she has concerns regarding children's welfare. She makes careful risk assessments of her home and places they visit. She seeks to extend her professional skills. For example, she has updated her understanding of how to support young children and how to challenge them in their learning. The childminder has developed good partnerships with parents and carers. She regularly exchanges information with them to support children's learning at home and at the setting.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder supports children's communication and language development skilfully. For example, she uses what she knows about children's interests and special events in their lives to engage them in conversations. Children have a good command of language and use this effectively, such as comparing a trail of glue to a 'wiggly worm'. They talk about their ideas confidently and learn new words. The childminder provides children with good mathematical and literacy learning opportunities. Children talk about shapes and develop their understanding of counting and numbers. They enjoy seeing how their name is written, practise writing and comment on the events in books.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides children with many opportunities to make decisions and lead their play. She helps them to become independent and manage some everyday tasks for themselves, such as dressing in their outdoor clothes. The childminder helps children to learn about keeping themselves healthy. Children enjoy healthy snacks and daily exercise. They learn the importance of good hygiene routines. The childminder helps children to develop their awareness of the wider community and the lives of people from around the world, such as the different ways that people dress. Children explore their differences, such as in eye colour.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children progress well with their physical skills. For example, they concentrate well as they handle small sequins and stickers and use these to decorate their artwork. They sustain their focus on activities that interest them. Children have good imaginations and express their ideas clearly, such as turning a box into a car. They add interesting features, including a steering wheel and seatbelts. They enjoy themselves as they pretend to drive the car to different destinations. Children develop their understanding of the world and learn about jungle and farm animals. They explore the effects of magnets as they work out how to join magnetic toys together.
