This provision is good
The childminder has worked on the action raised at her last inspection and has renewed her paediatric first-aid training. This helps to promote children's safety and well-being. The childminder has a good knowledge of the children in her care. She uses information gathered through observing children's play to monitor achievements and identify what they need to learn next. She uses this understanding to write targeted plans which help her to provide activities and opportunities that support children to make good progress in their learning and development. Children are treated with warmth, kindness and patience. This helps them to feel safe and emotionally secure. The childminder gives children plenty of praise and encouragement. This helps children to develop their confidence and self-esteem. She gives clear explanations and repetition to help children to understand her expectations around sharing. She uses a

range of positive behaviour management strategies which children respond well to.

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently take all opportunities to promote young children's speaking skills even further. The childminder does not ask parents for detailed information about their children's abilities and stages of learning when they first start at her setting.

What the setting needs to do to improve further

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written feedback provided. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good awareness of how to keep children safe in her home and when out in the community. She also supports children to learn how to keep themselves safe. For example, she teaches them not to put toys in their mouths and supports them to tidy up toys when they have finished playing. She has recently updated her child protection training. This has helped her to have a good understanding of the procedure to follow if she has concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder reflects upon her service and the activities that she provides for children. Overall, partnerships with parents are strong. This helps support continuity of care. The childminder keeps them informed of their child's progress in many ways. One of which is an in-depth daily journal. Parents are complimentary about the care and teaching that the childminder provides.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children spend extended periods of time playing with kinetic sand. They squash the sand with their hands and use their fingers to explore the texture and make marks, as well as using a variety of tools. This helps to support their small-muscle development in preparation for their early writing. The childminder incorporates colour names into the play. For example, when children use construction blocks she points out colours and corrects any misconceptions. She also asks them to identify big and small blocks. This helps to support children's mathematical awareness well. The childminder adapts activities according to children's concentration and enjoyment, helping them to make as much progress as possible.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children spend plenty of time in the garden. They crawl through tunnels, ride push-along toys as well as play ball games. This helps to support children's physical development. They also attend a variety of groups. For example, taking part in a group that encourages messy and sensory play. This offers children opportunities to enjoy sensory experiences while playing alongside other children of their own age. Resources are presented at children's height which helps them to make choices about their play and promotes their independence. Children learn about similarities and differences between themselves and others. They learn about different religious and cultural celebrations that happen throughout the year.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are happy and develop good emotional attachments with the childminder. They build strong relationships with the childminder's own children and spend time laughing and cuddling each other. They enjoy looking at books, playing with super hero figures and robots. They make good progress in their learning and develop the key skills they need in preparation for the next stages in their learning, including school.
