This provision is good
The childminder is well organised and has a clear understanding of her responsibilities. Her setting is extremely well run and managed. She is ambitious and keen to continually develop the service she offers. The childminder actively seeks and considers the views of parents, children and other professionals when she is forming her action plans. Children are motivated to learn as the childminder provides experiences that reflect their interests and capabilities. She models how to use equipment and gives children time and space to copy what she is doing and 'have a go' for themselves. Children demonstrate an interest in learning and good levels of self-confidence. The childminder works very well in partnership with parents and other settings that children attend. She regularly shares information with them about children's learning and achievements. The childminder takes into account what parents and other settings

tell her about children's interests and development, to plan effectively and move children on in their learning.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not sharply focus and target training and professional development opportunities to enhance the quality of teaching to the highest possible level.

Inspection activities
The inspector had a tour of the areas of the premises used for childminding purposes. The inspector reviewed parents' written feedback. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector conducted a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector reviewed and discussed children's records, the childminder's policies and evidence of her suitability and qualifications.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a clear understanding of the procedures to follow to raise concerns relating to children's welfare or the conduct of an adult. She uses risk assessment effectively to minimise the risk of potential hazards and helps children to understand how to keep themselves safe. The childminder has provided her assistant with appropriate training to conduct their role safely and effectively when taking children to and from school. The childminder is well qualified and has undertaken training to refresh her knowledge of the practices that help to keep children safe and healthy. Parents comment on the childminder's excellent communication skills and the fun their children have while attending the setting.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a good understanding of how children learn and develop. She observes children's progress regularly and monitors their development well. The childminder provides appropriate, stimulating activities that children enjoy. She models language well. For example, when interacting with babies she repeats simple words and phrases, making good eye contact with them. Children enjoy exploring with their senses, such as when they touch objects made from different materials and hear how they sound when they bang them against other objects or surfaces.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder makes good use of the resources available to her in the local community to enhance children's understanding of diversity and the wider world. She promotes hygiene well. The childminder has robust procedures to help minimise the risk of cross- infection, such as when changing nappies. She promotes children's physical health effectively and provides regular opportunities for them to engage in exercise and take fresh air. The childminder gets to know children very well through her organised approach to settling in. She gathers important and detailed information from parents to learn more about children's existing skills, preferences and routines. These are adhered to throughout the day, which helps babies to feel safe and understand what will happen next.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children progress well from their individual starting points. They develop the skills required to prepare them for their next stage of learning and the eventual move to school. For example, babies successfully communicate their needs, seek the childminder out for support and play well alongside others. Children work within the range of development that is at least typical for their ages, and the childminder's monitoring systems ensure that any gaps in children's learning are quickly identified and addressed.
