p.1
Information about this children’s home
The home is run by a privately owned organisation. The service provides accommodation and support for a maximum of five children who have learning and/or physical disabilities.
p.1
Judgement at last inspection: not judged
Date of last inspection: 13 December 2017
p.1
Judgement at last inspection: not judged
Enforcement action since last inspection: none
p.1
and young people since the most recent full inspection
The most recent full inspection of this home was in 2012. Since then the home has not admitted any children. At this interim inspection the home was ‗not judged‘.
p.1
and young people since the most recent full inspection
At the time of this inspection, there were no children living at the home. Therefore, this inspection focuses on the ability of the children‘s home to meet its statutory requirements to continue its registration. The inspection considered the home‘s readiness to accept placements. As a result, no judgement is made.
p.1
and young people since the most recent full inspection
This children‘s home continues to remain closed and has not accepted referrals for placements since October 2012. The service is required to inform Ofsted of its intention to accommodate children three months prior to any placement being made. There is no registered manager in place and no available staff team to work in the home.
p.1
and young people since the most recent full inspection
All previous requirements and recommendations raised at the last inspection are repeated at this inspection. In addition there are two new requirements, one to update Inspection report children‘s home: SC007286 2 the home‘s statement of purpose and one to ensure adequate precautions to prevent the risk of fire at the premises.
p.1
and young people since the most recent full inspection
This inspection highlights ongoing and significant shortfalls in the physical environment of the home. Some refurbishment work is currently underway. The kitchen is under refurbishment and the boiler system is being replaced. Despite these improvements, the building still requires major work and repair before it is suitable to meet the accommodation needs of children.
p.2
and young people since the most recent full inspection
Monthly monitoring visits by an independent person are not consistently conducted and monitoring reports are not forwarded to the regulator. This is in breach of the regulations.
p.2
and young people since the most recent full inspection
The home‘s fire safety equipment is not suitable and fire safety door closure fittings are not present on all of the doors. This presents a potential fire risk at the property.

Information about this inspection
Inspectors have looked closely at the experiences and progress of children and young people. Inspectors considered the quality of work and the differences made to the lives of children and young people. They watched how professional staff work with children and young people and each other and discussed the effectiveness of help and care provided. Wherever possible, they talked to children and young people and their families. In addition, the inspectors have tried to understand what the children‘s home knows about how well it is performing, how well it is doing and what difference it is making for the children and young people whom it is trying to help, protect and look after.
