This provision is good
The childminder evaluates her provision and gathers parents' views to help with this. She has successfully met the recommendations from her previous inspection. The childminder helps to develop children's communication and language skills particularly well. Children make good progress. The childminder prepares them well for future learning and for going on to school. Children's behaviour is good. Children learn about rules and they know what is expected of them. The childminder supports children in learning how to be independent. For example, older children peel their own bananas at snack time. Younger children are supported well in moving on from drinking from a bottle to using a cup.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not monitor children's progress precisely enough to help her to identify swiftly when a child may need further support for more specific aspects of their learning. The childminder does not make the most of opportunities to extend children's understanding of the importance of hygiene, to further support their good health.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector took account of the views of parents through reading the written feedback provided. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at a selection of relevant documentation. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector and the childminder jointly observed and evaluated the effectiveness of an activity together.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of the signs and symptoms of neglect and abuse. She has a secure understanding of the correct procedure to follow in the event of a concern. This helps her to support children's welfare. The childminder reduces and removes potential risks to children, for instance, through effective risk assessment. The childminder shares information with parents on a regular basis. This helps to provide a shared approach in supporting children's learning and individual care needs. The childminder is proactive in continuing her professional development to help her further improve the outcomes for children. For instance, she regularly accesses training, completes online workshops and networks with other professionals. She uses the knowledge she gains to make further improvements to how she supports children's language and communication development.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder regularly observes children at play. This enables her to plan activities that children enjoy and help them to move on in their next steps in learning. The childminder is skilful in capturing young children's interest, for instance, she is enthusiastic and uses a range of different voices when reading stories to them. She encourages children to turn the pages of the storybook and asks questions about what they can see. The childminder gives children plenty of time to think about their responses and they receive meaningful praise and encouragement. Children paint and enjoy a range of messy play activities. This contributes to their creativity and their sensory development.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is warm and caring. Children cuddle into the childminder's arms, showing that they share a secure attachment to her. The childminder promotes children's social skills effectively. For example, they regularly mix with other children and adults at local toddler groups and play dates with other registered childminders. The childminder gains all necessary information about each child right from the beginning. This helps to ensure she meets their individual needs effectively. The childminder provides healthy snacks and supports children's physical development well.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are active, independent and enthusiastic learners. They are curious and confident to try new things and to work things out for themselves. Children are motivated and eager to join in with activities, and thoroughly enjoy their time with each other and the childminder. Children are confident to ask questions and express their views.
